Director of Commercial Operations

Job description / Role

Our client, an International Freight forwarding and Logistics Solutions provider is looking for a Director of Commercial Operations to join their team in the UAE.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, drive and implement a sales strategy for the company’s sales teams, currently consisting of 10 staff. The sales strategy should cover the range of small to medium sized targets, but also include a high level pipeline of larger corporate potential clients with typically longer sales cycles. The role would also implement a sales reporting structure via an IT system, as well as develop a proper sales incentive scheme.
• The DCO will be the main driver for business development, a strategic approach that includes development of products, as well as identifying new geographical areas of interest.
• The DCO will also be responsible for contributing to improving our operational side of the business, by introducing alternate, and sometimes more cost efficient ways of doing things.
• The DCO will be an integral part of establishing the company overseas.

Requirements

• At least 15-20 years’ experience
• Must have a strong commercial background in Freight Forwarding
• Experience with projects and Oil/Gas would be an advantage
• Middle East experience would be preferable
• Sales and especially Sales Management skills
• Develop new markets, new products and geographically
• Must have an outgoing personality, and lead by example
• Capable of directing, mentoring, coaching a team of currently 10 sales people - expected to grow
• Ability to develop and implement a strategy for the commercial department, targeting small to medium sized clients
• Developing a strategic approach for larger, corporate accounts that normally have a longer sales cycle
• Implement a CRM software system that will create sales forecasts, pipeline and monitoring of performance of the team
