Job description / Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Construction Director for our Infrastructure project in Doha, Qatar.You will oversee the construction of multiple infrastructure projects. Construction includes roads, storm water /groundwater drainage, foul sewers, TSE, utilities, street furniture and soft and hard landscape. Day to day supervision of each project will be the responsibility of a supervision team, lead by an SRE / RE reporting to the Construction Director.
The Construction Director will ensure that the projects are implemented in accordance with the Contract Conditions, Specification and Drawings including Health and Safety and Environment requirements, QA/QC, approving interim and final payments, preparation of site instructions and variation orders, review of contractors’ claims and testing and commissioning of the works.
Directs the overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities. Ensures that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project
Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
Establishes assignments for Construction Superintendents for various work areas of construction operations, monitoring progress and recommending corrective action as necessary.
Conducts performance evaluations and recommends promotions and salary actions.
Anticipates and resolves various problems such as changes in scope, slippage of schedules, and budget overruns. Ensures the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control.
Prepares periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients, including formal presentations.
Ensures effective implementation of all Company and client policies and procedures, including labor relations policies.
Serves as the primary contact with client representatives and government representatives for construction-related activities.
Maintains strong client and community relations, including making presentations to local civic organizations.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Requirements
Western educated (BSc and MSc preferred). Professional Engineer with experience of construction supervision of roads and infrastructure (Foul sewers, storm-water/groundwater, TSE). With more than 20 years experience, at least 10 years at Senior Resident Engineer level and above. Regional experience is required.
