The RoleThe RoleBackground to the role Qatar, as one of the key Gulf States, has seen unprecedented growth in recent years. This has created infrastructure development on an equally impressive scale as the state strives to meet the needs of its ever growing population. Qatar’s position as the third largest holder of natural gas reserves means that this development will continue for many years, therefore investment in infrastructure, support services and culture is also secure in the long term. The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is a governmental health service which provides over 95% of health services for the state of Qatar. HMC provides comprehensive primary, secondary and tertiary care with a budget of almost QR3bn. HMC currently operates five hospitals with a further four under construction/in planning. In addition to this, the organisation is actively involved in community activities and campaigns to raise awareness of current health issues in Qatar. HMC has an acknowledged objective to become an internationally recognised world class centre for healthcare excellence and is working hard to achieve this. The Position Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of all HMC’s hospital services across the portfolio. With your team-which will include all the hospital executive directors-you will ensure that the entire operations function effectively, efficiently, and to a world class standard, with particular emphasis on clinical excellence and quality improvement. This role forms part of the executive management team of HMC’s portfolio and will play a vital role in its future development. Responsibilities *Establish a culture of collaboration and integration that enhances the provision of excellent patient care and improved patient satisfaction, provides a safe employee and patient care environment and supports innovation and creativity. *Oversee workforce development through recruitment and retention, employee satisfaction and engagement, maximising growth potential of employees and strong succession planning. *Maximise operational efficiencies to provide the highest quality of safe and appropriate patient care. *Direct effort toward making HMC the best performing and safest hospitals in the country by leading high-quality, service-oriented, safe and evidence based patient care throughout the hospitals and health centres. Support planning and development of HMC’s expansion and guide the development of services for new facilities. Salary and Benefits *Tax free salary circa £100K with more for an exceptional candidate *Expatriate benefits package offered on a single or family basis which will include accommodation, schooling allowance if necessary, return flights, transportation allowance and medical care. |
RequirementsRequirementsThe Candidate *Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Further training in business or healthcare management highly desirable. *Proven track record at director level in healthcare, with full operational responsibility for large, multi-site healthcare facilities. *Broad understanding of healthcare issues, including the role of academic medicine with researchers, practitioners and educators. *Strong staff management skills, understanding of modern management principles, practices and methods. Experience managing in a multinational, multi-cultural environment would be advantageous. *Previous exposure to development of services and operations in expanding and rapidly changing environments. Track record in the project management of design and implementation of services and operations for new facilities would be highly desirable. |
