Employment: Full Time

To strategically lead the operations of the inpatient and retail pharmacies in order to meet quality standards within administrative regulations and methods, and approved policies and procedures.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Strategy and Planning
- Participate and provide input in the development of the annual departmental business plan and budgets
- Design and implement departmental strategy and road map in coordination with the designated corporate strategy and planned initiatives
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by directing the budgeting cycle process, managing its operations effectively, and ensuring adherence to the operational budgets. Monitors and reviews variation to provide optimal adjustments.
- Collaborate with CMO and COO to identify projects to meet future essential departmental business demands.
- Investigate and participate in formulating strategies that result in positive financial impact and mitigates financial and operational risks.

Operations Management
- Provides leadership of departmental operation through planning, execution, and monitoring performance and activities.
- Assures appropriate assignment of staff to ensure accurate dispensing of medications with appropriate monitoring patient progress.
- Provide operational leadership for inpatient and retail pharmacy by managing and negotiating contracts with appropriate vendors.
- Manage team performance and workload to ensure that operational processes are followed and services are completed in a manner in accordance with departmental policy while focused on safety.
- Manage efficiency levels within areas of responsibility to assure prudent resource utilization to meet job demands.
- Solicits input from all stakeholders to assess departmental success in the provision of adequate and timely levels of service while achieving appropriate levels of patient safety, quality, and excellence in customer service.

Administrative Support
- Plans, directs, and monitors the revenue cycle including appropriate documentation and billing processes.
- Analyzes all drug utilization data and purchasing information to determine appropriateness.
- Collaborate with clinical engineering to monitor appropriate equipment maintenance and repair. Plan for capital allocation for replacement of existing equipment as required.

Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Implements policies and procedures that ensure optimal departmental performance including the safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of medication use that complies with CBAHI standards.
- Direct the management of change through continuous improvement of departmental performance incorporating timely information relative to new medications, policies, and standards of care that relate to care delivery, patient safety, and evidence based practices.
- Develops and implements a process which ensures the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee effectively promotes the efficacious, safe, and cost-effective use of medications within the organization.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, procedures and controls in order to enhance patient and employee safety, demonstrate compliance, and mitigate risk.
- Ensure identified risks are effectively addressed in order to foster patient safety, optimal health practices, and facilitate process improvement.

People Management
- Instill a culture of development, guidance and performance within assigned areas.
- Set performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate/appraise the team, and provide regular feedback on performance
- Provide development opportunities to the team, and participate in ensuring employee objectives are achieved.
- Ensure that appropriate licensure/certification/ and registration is current for all employees and continuing education requirements are met.
- Provide current and appropriate information for patients, families, and employees relative to new drugs, policies, and standards that relate to medication use and safety.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information.
- Successfully attract new employee talent to open positions in a timely manner.

Requirements

- 7 to 10 years of experience in Pharmacy Services with at least 5 years of experience in a senior managerial position.
- Recent experience in hospital and outpatient pharmacy operations
- Understand and meet the criteria and standards developed locally and internationally for the business area.
- A Doctorate of Pharmacy degree is required.
- Current licensure to practice as a pharmacist in KSA.
- KSA national required for this position

Competencies / Skills
- Awareness of current and emerging medical and regulatory trends
- Awareness of emerging technology and pharmaceutical therapy.
- Knowledge of dosage requirements for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical and inpatient therapy and processes.
- Skilled in contract Negotiations
- Extensive knowledge of budget planning and management.
- Awareness of staff professional development and training requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of patient rights
- Able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English and Arabic, as necessary to perform the essential duties of the position using excellent communication skills.

The design stage was finished in early 2012. Site demolition and excavation was completed in October 2012 and construction is now underway. The facility is scheduled to be operational in Q4 2015.
