Continued growth due to ongoing project award has created this exceptional opportunity for a Director of Planning in Qatar for one of the largest contracting firms in Qatar. Their project scope comprises Bridges and Tunnels, Reinforcement Works, Hospitals, Factories, Hotels and Residential Cities, Universities and Palaces with the firm undertaking QR3B of works in Qatar at this time. This firm requires leaders who are able to lead projects in a high growth work environment yet develop the systems and processes to enable sustainable growth in a proactive way also.

Reporting to the General Manager and managing a team of 4 planning staff, you are responsible for:

• The planning of logistics, budgets and all other facets of numerous building, civil and infrastructure projects to ensure the project is completed within budget and on time.
• Overseeing of a number of projects for all planning requirements on a concurrent basis.
• Preparation of plan work schedules, timings, construction materials and all other building requirements.
• Working with colleagues on the preparation of Tender and Contract Planning to program projects.
• Conducting of regular site visits, progress monitoring and progress reporting for programming purposes.

Requirements

The attributes we seek include:

• Degree in Building Studies, Surveying and Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and/or Building Management are required plus international planning memberships would be highly regarded.
• 15+ year’s construction planning experience with contracting, contracting and/or engineering firms essential.
• P3 / MS Project / Excel experience is essential.
• Candidates must possess experience with budgets, targets, building laws, environmental laws, as well as be able to work within and lead a team.
• Candidates must be methodical, articulate and well conversed in all areas of the construction industry.
• Experience in a cross-cultural environment within the Gulf Region.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, mathematics and knowledge of construction methods and materials are essential.
• Sound knowledge of building and construction methods, Building and Health and Safety regulations, environmental regulations, Contract Law, building management, surveying and civil engineering is required.
