Job description / Role
The broad description of the E&M Design Engineer is to assist the HVAC/MEP Systems Engineer on design management of D&B Contractor for HVAC/MEP package on a Railway Project.
Will have strong experiences in design relative to SCADA, BACS, Very Low Voltage systems (communication, Information) and all any other facilities relatives to rail transport system and/or transport infrastructures in general.
Ideally will have experience of design coordination on Metro projects and knowledge of the design interfaces required.
- Functionally he responds to the HVAC/MEP Systems Engineer in the Engineering Department and shall:
- Provide assistance to the HVAC/MEP Systems Engineer in the management of the design process of the D&B Contractors (review and comment on the design procedures and methodologies);
- Ensure that design documentation, of the D&B Contractor, is produced and distributed in a timely manner and with the required quality;
- Analyse evidences provided by the D&B Contractor and compliance checking with Employer Requirement and the latest legislative requirements on technical and safety aspects;
- Evaluate theoretical designs (calculation notes, drawing set, description notes and technical specification note) , if needed:
- Ensure the Interface Management of the design;
- Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints;
- Assist in facilitating workshops and design reviews;
- Preparing reports and presentations as needed;
- Attends meetings as needed.
- ELV and SCADA Systems design experience working for D&B Contractor or Engineering office;
- Experience in underground structures, tunnel (and transport infrastructure);
- International Experience (preferably in the Middle-East) of working in Design & Construction environment;
Requirements
- Qualified professional who can manage and coordinate specialised activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity. Leads in the formulation of advanced technical concepts. Or,
- Provides specialist services in support of project requirements. Independently performs highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialised principles.
- Strong Communication (written and oral)
- Computer Proficiency (MS Excel, MS Word and Power Point)
- Knowledge in the use of electrical design software (Caneco) is desired
- Auto Cad is desired.
- BSc, Beng, BA or Equivalent with a bias toward Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Electro-Mechanical design with at least 5 years in large scale Rail Transport Systems and/or design in tunnel works.
- Excellent oral and written English language
