EPC Lead Engineer – Rotating Equipment – Arabic Speaking

Job description / Role

Position Summary:

The EPC Lead Engineer – Rotating Equipment will lead and/or support a team of rotating equipment engineers, who are part of a multi-discipline and global project team and is responsible for all facets of rotating equipment and successful execution of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects. This position will be involved in all phases of engineering from bidding through the construction phase.

Key Areas of Overall Responsibility:

Ensure that all national and local statutory, codes requirements as well as customer specifications are fully implemented by all involved global entities
Ensure that local best practice design is applied during front end and detail engineering to allow for competitive local and global procurement and construction
Coordinate, monitor, and supervise sub-contracted work packages of company partners
Coordination of locally executed engineering packages and interfacing with company's Engineering partners
Coordination of local engineering and legislation requirements
Coordination of and participation in internal and customer design reviews according to the company's Engineering Design Review Program
Clarification of customer, supplier, and construction inquiries
Team leading and coordination
Cost, budget, manpower, scheduling and quality
Identify problems, opportunities, risk and deviations to mitigate consequence
Provide feedback to lessons learned process and utilize lessons learned in future projects

Key Areas of Specific Responsibility:

Specification, requisition and order of rotating equipment and package units such as blowers, fans, turbo compressors, integrally geared turbo compressors, reciprocating compressors, positive displacement compressors, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, positive displacement pumps, steam turbines etc.

Hydraulic pump design & calculation
Selection of appropriate shaft seals for pumps and turbo compressors
Definition of cost effective noise protection measures for rotating equipment
Development of rotating equipment and package units concepts and project strategies
Preparation of technical specifications and inquiry documents
Preparation of technical bid evaluation and recommendations for machinery
Execution of technical pre-bid meetings with rotating equipment suppliers
Conceptual design and supervision of detail engineering for all rotating equipment items
Coordination of all rotating equipment items with other departments and external subcontractors
Inspection and testing of above mentioned rotating equipment

Requirements

Desired Skills:

Experience and knowledge of typical rotating equipment tasks e.g.

Selection of appropriate type of rotating equipment for a given application in chemical, petrochemical and oil&gas industry
Knowledge of shaft sealing systems, lubrication systems, material selection, noise protection
Working knowledge of national and international codes and standards related to the discipline e.g. API for rotating equipment such API 610, 612 617, 618, 619, etc.
Experience in project execution with an international project team as well as with international machine vendors
Effective leadership skills
Knowledge in EPC work process and good understanding of engineering and information workflow
Cost responsibility and basic knowledge about commercial bid verification
Basic procurement knowledge
Good understanding of engineering and information workflow
Good communication skills both written and oral
Up to 40% travel both domestic and international
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience:

Minimum of eight years of experience in the areas of rotating equipment in the execution of chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas plant projects in an EPC environment.
Experience executing new or expansion projects with emphasis on rotating equipment as the operating company representative

Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Master's Degree is preferred
Professional Engineer registration preferred.
