POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the coordination of all Education Computing services, in support of students, faculty and staff, required for curriculum delivery and Jenzabar. Manage the Education Computing team and support the Associate Director in all aspects of Education Computing services, including Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, assistive and adaptive technology (AT) supporting course content (resident, distant and online learning), classrooms, computer labs, and business systems.

POSITION ACTIVITIES

• Supervises the Education Computing Support staff providing directions, training, feedback and prioritizes work in order to attain departmental objectives. Ensure that the tasks and work efforts of your team align with and support ITS direction and priorities. Develop and empower your team so they have the professional skills to support Education Computing.

• Manage and develop procedures in support of Education Computing Support services related to the operational and project requirements. These procedures should follow the Project Management methodology of the ITS to facilitate new project development. He/She evaluates, recommends and implements additional measures that may be necessary.

• Coordinate with local and WCMC-NY partners in the Student Information System (SIS) to provide a robust, reliable solution that meets the current and future needs of the organization. Stay current with all features with the SIS system and provide opportunities for better student management as they become available.

• Work with faculty, staff administration, and students to support their content authoring and assistive technology needs. Perform business and technical feasibility analyses of complex IT issues related to Education Computing. Provide support across campus, to WCMC-NY, and affiliates for Education Computing needs. Deliver services within the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA).

• Liaise with ITS staff at WCMC-NY to ensure that curriculum delivery meets the requirements of our campus utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS) to facilitate a highly available solution for our users.

• Works closely with all ITS units on development, installation and support of projects and operational requirements and ensure that these tasks are completed in a timely manner. Collaborates with the WCMC-Q Teams in the configuration and administration of the Education Computing needs. Prepare written reports and delivers presentations on Education Computing relating findings to ITS management.

• Leads and coordinates the works of vendors, suppliers, and staff in procurement, licensing, training and issue resolution. Leads and facilitates brainstorming and workshop sessions to address technical issues during the planning and execution of projects. Keeps abreast of current developments in the field through continuing education, professional reading, listservs, participation in conferences, workshops and professional groups.

• Participates with ITS management to develop the annual budget for the Education Computing Services. Accountable for budgetary expenditures for the unit throughout the fiscal year.

• Performs other related duties as directed.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Appropriate experience may be substituted for a degree
• 3 to 5 years managerial experience
• Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skill are required
• Minimum of 5 years practical experience in the design, implementation and management of Educational Computing
• Previously demonstrated Project Management experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Previously demonstrated practical experience managing teams.
• Previously demonstrated experience with Student Information Systems.
• Previously demonstrated experience with technology in classroom and curriculum delivery.
• Previously demonstrated experience with Learning Management Systems.
• Experience with assistive and adaptive technology in an educational environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning.
• Required Operating Systems: MACX OS, Windows

HIGHLY DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and/or initiatives often with conflicting deadlines and limited resources
• Ability to prioritize and reprioritize effort to meet the organizational requirements
• Understand the roles of education administration coupled with understanding of user requirements and providing a high quality end-user experience
• Jenzabar, Angel, or Panopto experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work typically takes place in a normal office environment and requires:
Able to work off hours and weekends as required

Occasional moving of computer equipment or similar objects up to approximately 25 pounds
