Job description / Role
Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately related to the electrical needs of the projects.
Preparation of electrical process and HV/LV distribution system designs and specifications including water and wastewater pump stations and treatment plants, district cooling systems, irrigation, drainage, general infrastructure and related facilities in coordination with other disciplines.
Assist with the preparation of presentations, design reports, specifications, calculations, drawings, tender documents, procurement packages and cost estimates for FEED/EPC, design build and design, bid-build contracts. Supervision of junior engineers and CADD.
Requirements
Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university or college.
Minimum of 5 years overall electrical engineering design experience of which at least 2 years should have been gained working in the Middle East.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of HV and LV electrical design principles as applied to water and infrastructure projects including process plant and pumping stations.
Experience should include preparation of water and infrastructure designs for either municipal, industrial or petrochemical projects. Knowledge of HAZOP and related studies, including hazardous area zoning.
Conversant in the use of engineering software packages covering single line diagrams, load schedules, short circuit analysis, harmonic analysis and electrical equipment selection e.g. motors, transformers, generators, switchgear, MCCs and cables.
Thorough knowledge of relevant local and international standards and codes of practice with particular reference to NEMA, NEC, EN and IEC standards. Understanding of quality and safety aspects of the design development process. Experience of working on FEED projects will be considered an advantage.
