Electrical Inspector, Dubai

AECOM is currently seeking an Electrical Inspector to be based in Dubai. The suitable candidate will perform technical and administrative activities, and therefore, should have experience and specialization in quality control and quality assurance inspection of electrical construction work, under the supervision of a Senior Inspector or Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing project contract documents and monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance.
- Monitoring and/or evaluating electrical tests such as ground-fault, ground resistance, insulation resistance, polarity, continuity, capacity, load and other electrical field tests as required.
- Exercising ability to interpret single-line and/or schematic electrical drawings as well as plans and specifications.
- Field checking installation and location of electrical equipment, electrical duct, conduit, cable, panels and other components of the electrical system being installed.
- Monitoring all electrical installations to assure circuitry phasing, equipment, and grounding adhere to construction documents and National Electric Code requirements.
- Verifying equipment settings, alignment and testing requirements.
- Monitoring Contractors' compliance with approved Quality Control Plane.
- Providing general inspection on all Contractor and Sub-Contractor work to assure a safe and workman-like operation.

Requirements

- Candidate must hold a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field (Diploma holders will not be accepted)
- At least 8 years of experience in a similar role working on High-rise or Villa projects.
- Working knowledge of applicable materials and electrical installations with experience directly related to power, lighting, transmission, and controls of low to high voltage electrical systems in commercial, transportation, institutional and/or industrial applications are required.
- Ability to read and completely understand contract documents is required. Ability to perform quantity take-offs and measure quality in the field. Familiarity with National Electric Code (NEC), Building Officials Code Administrators (BOCA) International and other codes and standards related to electrical construction.
- Demonstrated success on the job as evidenced by prior satisfactory performance, acceptance of responsibility, and growth in previous position.
- Acceptable oral and written communication skills and ability to properly document installation of work and contractor's performance.
