Reporting to: Senior Facility Engineer

Job Summary:
HMC is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Engineers to work in the maintenance department for the new hospital facilities currently under construction and commissioning. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a critical department, supporting the high quality clinical services, in a large and modern healthcare facility. The new facilities will accommodate over 550 beds, research and laboratory facilities, imaging and associated modern healthcare services in approximately 195,000 sqm.

In order to support the new services, the Corporation is looking for Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineers with experience in the management of maintenance services, the development of major plant and the repair, maintenance and refurbishment of healthcare facilities. The maintenance department works to both European and American standards, as appropriate for the specific engineering function, and thus experience of working in the health sector is required.

Main Responsibilities:
Responsible for the Corporations buildings and grounds maintenance, minor renovation and construction works, plumbing and drainage systems, ensuring compliance with local and international building codes, standards and regulations. Maybe assigned as an engineer-in-charge of hospital(s) or area(s) where he/she will support hospital administration in the provision of engineering services to meet the needs of the medical, nursing, support services and other departments.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of the HMC mission, vision and values.
- Responsible for the direction, supervision and control of a group of staff assigned in the area.
- When assigned as project engineer, coordinate with other trade engineers and serve as professional liaison between HMC and Contractor and the appropriate government body.
- Prepare specifications of civil works associated with in-house projects and monitor civil contract work on behalf of HMC as designated.
- Review specifications and drawings prepared by private consultants ensuring design meets statutory, HMC and recognized international health industry requirements.
- Conduct regular evaluation, propose and/or design and implement to local and international standards the appropriate modifications to the building systems, and/or related services associated with the facility upgrading programmes.
- Provide technical support to Materials Management and hospital departments in the procurement of civil engineering services, equipments and materials in terms of specifications preparation and participation in bid evaluation.
- Submit yearly capital equipments, manpower and tools requirements for the section or unit as part of the departments annual budget preparation programme.
- Support and implement, in conjunction with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), an effective planned preventive maintenance programme of building facilities and equipment under his responsibility, updating same regularly.
- Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

Minimum Education:
BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING, completed apprenticeship program or equivalent experience

Preferred Education:
BS CIVIL ENGINEERING, Specialization in Buildings and Plumbing Services

Minimum Experience:
5 years experience of managing a maintenance service including repairing/maintenance of building fabrics and plumbing services and Experience of Operation and Maintenance of major plant including:
- Chillers / chilled water systems
- Air handling Units / plant
- Boilers

Experience of Computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS):
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Reactive maintenance

Preferred Experience:
7 years in a healthcare setting and/or construction/renovation in large hospitals.

Language Skills:
Excellent verbal and written English is essential, Arabic preferred
