The Role


The Role


Main Tasks and Specific Duties:

• Define Project requirements with respect to the engineering disciplines encompassed within the department.

• Identify the appropriate technical standards to be achieved, and ensure their consistent application during design development, reviews and the recommendation of technical solutions.

• Ensure timely provision of design, specifications and engineering documentation and/or timely review of contractors' submittals referred to Engineering for review in order to meet Project schedules and requirements.

• Liaise with Corporate human resource managers to ensure that adequate advance notice is provided of changes of resourcing.

• Co-ordinate with Project Managers to provide the required engineering discipline support to Project Construction and to maintain a technical overview of engineering activities carried out by Projects.

• Disseminate general Project information to best achieve suitable interface between disciplines and with other departments.

• Identify the need for, and improvement of, procedures to facilitate the effective operation of the Engineering Department.

• Conduct HRD interviews and recommend training development within or outside the Project.

• Carry out regular dialogue with each of the Project Managers.

• Arrange meetings and attend meetings with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure resolution of technical problems and interfaces.

• Approve and appoint senior engineers.

• Ensure staff awareness, and implement where appropriate, the ANE Safety Policy.

• Recommend approvals of reference works, including codes, international standards, product standards and textbooks for the in-country library.

• Review the Engineering input to the Monthly and Executive Reports.

• Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients.

• Advise and adjudicate where a consensus has not been achieved on technical matters.

• B.Sc. in Civil/Mechanical /Electrical Engineering

• The suitable candidate must have worked at least 5 years experience as Engineering Manager.

• The successful candidate will be expected to adequately demonstrate a thorough knowledge and practical application of established engineering techniques. These are required to effectively manage engineering department works without supervision.

• A good understanding and ability to utilise the various Microsoft Office Packages is expected.

• Good communication skills are a prerequisite in both oral and written form. This is a Client and Contractor facing role. Therefore the ability to communicate at all project levels is necessary.

Al Nahr Engineering Limited (ANE) is an engineering consulting company owned by Water Works Limited a company wholly owned by the Management and Implementation Authority of the Great Man-made River Project. The company was formerly known as Brown & Root N.A Limited ( BRNA) until the purchase by Water Works Limited in October 2009 of the 100% shares in BRNA. The company changed its name to Al Nahr Engineering Limited (ANE) in November 2009.

Our team has been involved in Engineering and Project Management of the Great Man-Made River Project since its inception in 1984. Our experience has been expanded to include works for other types of projects.
