Engineering Manager

Job description / Role

Job Purpose:

To Lead the MEP engineering and design department activities to assist with tender bids, produce MEP Project designs, produce shop
drawings, provide technical information required for procurement and Construction activities, ensure compliance with codes, best practices and the original design intent.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the production of MEP design works, design verification, shop drawings and technical submittals suitable for efficient and economical construction.
• Ensure engineering information is made available to the construction team in advance of site activities.
• Ensure engineering information for construction is in compliance with codes, best practice and the original design intent.
• Identify, manage and execute specific design responsibilities required by HSA under contract. Ensure coordination of all MEP services with each other and with building interfaces.
• Manage design verification activities being carried out by Senior design engineers.
• Manage the receipt and execution of Contractual instructions where engineering works are applicable.
• Manage the review of all contract documentation and raise RFI’s to clarify anomalies and ambiguities.
• Assist the Project Manager in all aspects of engineering related contractual matters including drafting of contractual letters when applicable.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to senior/junior design engineers and CAD operatives.
• Identify engineering resources required to achieve the contract programme and ensure output and productivity levels/targets are achieved.
• Attend weekly meetings with Main Contractor and Design Team.
• Assist Commercial Department with valuations and identify potential variations.
• Ensure that contractual obligations are properly executed by the company on the project.
• Manage specialist / Subcontractor design and engineering.
• Assist in general Project/Site Management activities in the absence of PM and/or DPM from site.

Requirements

Deputy Technical Manager for Central region KSA
• Nationality – British/Irish/Arab/Pakistani/Indian
• Experience – minimum 10 years as contractor and possibly some consultancy, but must have worked in engineering/design department for production of design/shop drawings/material submittals and ultimately experience in managing the design/engineering processes.
Preferably experience in both mechanical and electrical but must at least have understanding of their non-bias discipline.
• Role - responsible for managing a team of around 40 engineers/draftsmen on several projects at once. Refer to Engineering Manager job description attached, however they would report directly to the Group Technical Manager.
• Salary level – Basic package 20k to 25k Riyals pcm depending on experience/suitability.
