Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Main Purpose
The purpose of this position is to assist the Environment and Sustainability Manager in providing effective professional environmental advice and services for the Transport Division.

Duties and Responsibilities (What you need to do)

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance of elements of the environmental management system in close liaison with other departments and contracts, in line with ISO 14001.
- Assist with the assessment of environmental aspects and impacts associated with operating and maintaining the contracts within the Transport Division.
- Monitor the application of environmental control measures by conducting inspections, audits, measurements and tests.
- Promote awareness across the organisation on environmental impacts and control measures, the philosophy of sustainability, deliver training courses and encourage employee involvement.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with environmental law and keep abreast of environmental legislation, standards, guidelines and best practice.
- Produce, audit and analyse statistics and reports on environmental performance to internal and external clients, regulatory authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with the application of environmental permits, licenses and clearances from government agencies and regulatory authorities.
- Carry out noise and vibration surveys, including on-site measurements, analysis and reports.
- Assist in developing environmental programmes on pollution control, pollution prevention, recycling, energy conservation, water conservation, waste and wastewater management, resource use, emergency preparedness, environmental health and other sustainability projects.
- Assist with minutes of meeting and follow up of actions from environmental meetings.
- Perform and carry out other duties as instructed by the Environment and Sustainability Manager and Safety Assurance & Environment Director.

SAE Responsibilities and Information Security Responsibilities
- Awareness of the Integrated Management System and the content of the Health, Safety & Environment, Quality, Information Security policy statements and management commitment statements.
- Understanding of personal responsibilities and contribution to achieving compliance with the Integrated Management System requirements, (including but not limited to competence to perform safety critical roles, legal requirements, control measures arisen from environmental aspects and impacts, job safety analysis and information security risk assessment) and the potential consequences of departure from arrangements in place to deliver these commitments.
- To exercise their personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare for those affected by the acts or omissions.

Duties and Responsibilities (What you need to do)
- Promote a good SAE and Information Security culture among their peers, subcontractors and third parties.
- Lead by example and look at ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimise the generation of waste through personal performance and raise recommendations on how to improve existing processes on this regard within / outside their departments through their Line Manager, Departmental Safety Meetings and any other appropriate available channels.
- Protect information assets and data including both electronic and paper based from all threats whether internal, external, deliverate or accidental.
- Promote a good SAE and Information Security culture among their peers, subcontractors and third parties.

Safety Critical Competencies
- Not applicable.

Requirements

- Ideally a degree holder or higher diploma of post-secondary education in a related engineering discipline.
- Hold a recognized qualification in environmental engineering discipline.
- Ability to use and calibrate various electronic test equipment and software to conduct environmental test and measurements.
- Ability to write technical and audit reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
- Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organisational skills, detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Hold a valid UAE driving license with good driving skills and experience.

Experience
- Minimum 1 year, preferably 2 years of work experience as an Environment Officer or Environment Technician in the rail industry.
- Strong audit-related expertise, including understanding of compliance requirements, monitoring guidelines and standards, such as ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 50001.
- Thorough understanding of environmental management system and related activities.
