Estimator (Greek National)

Job description / Role

Our client is a large semi-government client based in Dubai, with one of the largest shipyards in operation today, handling over 350 vessels per year. Over the past 30 years, our client has established itself as a leading, fast growing international player in the Offshore and Engineering, Ship Repair and Maintenance, Shipbuilding and Conversion, Rig building and refurbishment, FPSO/FSO conversion, offshore fabrication, Maritime Clusters and Yacht and Fleet operations with facilities in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Through organic growth and the winning of new large projects, they have asked us to source an experienced Estimator from Greece to join their expanding team during this exciting time. This is a permanent position based in Dubai. The main responsibilities will be to make detailed ship repair cost estimates and preparation of the quotations based on predetermined specifications, technical documents and inspections. Also, the preparation of invoices and negotiation of the prices, and be involved with the discussion and negotiation of prices for subcontractor's work.

Requirements

Estimating:
* Preparation of detailed/accurate estimates and the final bid document (tender) for all types of vessels.
* Inspections of the vessels whenever required and discussion of technical/commercial details with Owners representative.

Invoicing:
* Discussion of the technical and commercial details and negotiation for prices with the Yards subcontractors.
* Inspection of vessels, follow up repairs and cost control.
* Discussion of the technical/commercial details with Owners Representative(s), negotiation and settlement of the invoice.
* Ensure that Safety, Quality and Environment requirements of the yard are strictly followed
* Perform other job related duties as assigned by the section head.

Preferred Competencies:
* Degree/Diploma or equivalent qualifications in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical engineering; Naval Architecture, or Seagoing engineers certificate issued by a competent authority
OR
* Training in a reputable shipyard or offshore industry
* Assertive, courteous personality with good organisational and negotiation skills
* Fluency in English language both written and spoken essential.
* Technical background with experience in a similar position in Shipping or Offshore Industry or Seagoing experience.
