The Role

Leading Engineering consultancy in Dubai have a proven track record of building and infrastructure design and delivery across the Gulf. A range of projects are on offer for talented designers and engineers to collaborate on.
Currently they seek a Design Manager - Facade Engineering to join their team in Dubai.

This individual will be responsible for liaising with other related parties on the job; Architect, Engineer, PM, Main Contractor, Specialist Contractor etc.
Managing the design-to-delivery process and a small team of CAD designers.
Managing the concept design, detailed development, performance criteria formulation, and design report preparation of conventional and bespoke facade and building envelope systems.
Sketching and detailing of innovative facade systems and solutions.
Carry out factory and site works inspections and formulate related progress reports.
Advise on material selection, manufacturability, and procurement.
Assist in clients presentations and in formulating bid proposals.

Requirements

This professional will have around 7 – 12 years facade design and engineering experience post qualification of BSc/MSc in Architecture, Structural/Mechanical/Industrial/Building-Physics or other related engineering Qualifications. Facade engineering courses or training CPDs is highly desirable.
Experience ideally within facade consultants or secondly facade contractors. Experience in the Middle East/Gulf market is highly desirable
Have managed the concept and design development of facade systems and formulation design reports independently in the past.
Experience in bespoke facade systems and geometrically complex buildings and structures.
This person will have good knowledge of facade engineering related building codes, standards, and good practice. BS and ASTM as priority.

Skills:
Command in English, written and spoken. Other languages would be advantageous.
Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Ecotect and other facade analysis related software would be highly advantageous.
AutoCAD 2D, 3D latest versions. Rhino-Grasshopper, Revit, Inventor and other similar parametric software would be highly advantageous.
Ability to produce conceptual 3D diagrams using 3DS Max, Sketchup, or other related software would be highly advantageous.
Ability to free-hand sketch system designs.

Excellent team and project management skills will be necessary to drive this team and projects to project and team members career goals.
