Job description / Role
My client, a large group of companies, are currently looking for an individual who can join their designer brand specifically targeted to the Abaya market.
They are looking for an individual who comes from a background in fashion and a good understanding of printing and various patterns.
The role will also include the following responsibilities:
- Researching fashion trends and staying current on contemporary styles.
- Attend fashion shows and review garment magazines in order to gather information on consumer preferences
- Visit textile showrooms to keep up to date with the latest fabrics
- Sourcing suppliers internationally and nationally
- Creating and visualizing an idea and producing sketch of the design by hand or using CAD
- Creating samples and writing specifications outlining colors, schemes, construction, material types and accessory requirements.
- Choosing materials for the designs.
- Sourcing, selecting and buying fabrics and embellishments
- Confer with management executives in order to discuss the design ideas
- Overseeing production, direct, coordinate workers involves in drawings, cutting patterns and constructing samples or finished garments.
- Developing a pattern that is cut and sewn in sample garments
- Supervising the design team.
- Help determine pricing for the for the garments
- Collaborating with other designers to design special products and designs
- Attend photo shoots and helping with editorials
- Quality control
Requirements
Skills required:
- Understanding the design from a technical perspective such as producing patterns, toiles and technical specifications for design
- Ability to draw patterns for articles designed, cut patterns and cut materials according to patterns as well as ability to use measuring instruments
- Ability to form mockups and samples
- Ability to meet deadlines and work within a budget
- Good communication skills to explain their idea clearly
- Good organizational skills
- Good negotiation skills used with suppliers
