Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Install, test and maintain a wide range of Varian OIS Products according to customers technical / systems environment and company procedures to ensure that customers equipment operates efficiently at all times. Requires a minimum of supervision.
- Install OIS Products for complex VMS equipment, according to company procedures and customers technical and systems environment, in order to ensure that all Varian OIS Products function properly
- Perform maintenance of complex OIS Products in order to ensure systems are systematically updated and operate properly at all times to full customer satisfaction
- Instruct and support customers in systems maintenance and in basic operation of OIS Products, to ensure customers/users are self-sufficient in operating their equipment.
- Coordinate System Installations or upgrades in close cooperation with the Installation Team and local Field Engineers in order to ensure that system implementation functions meet the customers requirements at all times.
- Communicate actively with the Varian OIS Product Management & Product Marketing and participate in getting new products to the field in order to ensure that products meet the customer needs.
- Input detailed records of service visits into company information systems, including IT and technical problems, actions taken and parts employed to correct these problems, to ensure accurate updated customer maintenance information is available to other VMS parties.
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, in order to permanently keep informed regarding all operating characteristics, design factors, technical and systems performance and developments of VMS products.
- Report by means of FSRs / time sheets / expense reports etc. (as applicable) regularly / weekly to ensure accurate company statistical data on customer-oriented activities are available / kept up to date
- Train and advise less experienced technical Support Engineers OIS in technical matters, in order to ensure they can provide appropriate customer service and maintain up-to-date technical expertise.
- Act as a systems support expert on specific Varian OIS Products, to provide other Support Engineers specialized product knowledge and technical assistance when required.
- Maintain a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to VMS guidelines in order to perform activities under the safest working conditions
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- Graduate of Technical Institute or University in electronics, and / or information technology engineering or related fields or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 4 years experience in Field Service. Previous experience in RT service & support preferred.
- Practical knowledge in computer architecture (INTEL based & UNIX systems). Profound knowledge of WINDOWS based operating system required. Understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and SQL tools in conjunction with a SYBASE database is helpful for configuration of systems at the end users site.
- Fluency in the local language and in English, both written and spoken
- Must be mature and tactful
- Good understanding of commercial terms
- Articulate and skilled in interpersonal communication
- Willing to travel extensively
- Willing to work normal and extra hours as required to support the customers
- Ability to advise and counsel other Support Engineers OIS in technical matters
- Excellent skills in applying VMS health & safety regulations to work environment
