Employment: Full Time

Varian Medical Systems will provide the ProBeamTM Proton Therapy System for the new Proton Therapy Center of King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest and most advanced medical complexes. For this new Proton Therapy Center, Varian is now looking for a Field Service Engineer / Senior Installation Service Engineer (PT) to join the team early in order to participate in the preparation, installation and commissioning phase of the project.
The Field Service Engineer / Senior Installation Service Engineer (PT)
• Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation of proton therapy equipment and ancillary devices, as well as performing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service and repair of complex equipment and systems.
• Installs tests and upgrades a wide range of the most complex and advanced company products according to technical documentation and company guidelines to ensure that customer’s equipment operates efficiently.
• Tests and tunes each subsystem , to ensure that the system specifications are met
• Performs parts inventory and ordering for assigned installation, including replenishing spare parts kit, short shipment and return consigned parts appropriately and in a timely manner per procedure as necessary for each install.
• Assists in the development of new installation techniques and the writing of installation documentation.
• Inputs detailed records of installation and upgrade work performed into company information systems to ensure accurate updated customer installation information is available to other VMS functions.
• Demonstrates to customer equipment operation and specification according to Customer Acceptance Procedure (CAP).
• Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
• Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
• Works in small teams and may coordinate other expert company resources required to assist in performing the installation or upgrade activities.
• May coordinate and review the activities of a small group of Installation Representatives Maintains a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to VMS guidelines in order to perform activities under the safest working conditions.
• Requires no direct supervision.
• Works at customer sites long term (up to 2 years or more) depending on the project needs and scope.
• Works to a rotating shift schedule
• May work on any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PCs, and networking/wireless networking.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) with 3-5 years of working knowledge and experience related to:
- General Medical Imaging Devices Servicing
- Testing instrumentation used for verification and calibration of electronic and/or mechanical equipment
- Customer Field support
• Degree in Physics is preferred; however, sound knowledge of basic physics is required:
- Elementary Particle Physics
- Beam Optics
• Technical knowledge and working experience with computer systems:
- Debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Basic Networking Configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Language fluency (Written & Spoken) in English and Arabic. German language skill is a plus.
• Excellent formal and Interpersonal communication
• Customer Service focus
• Willing to travel during the first year (25%)
• Saudi Nationals will be preferred
