The RoleThe RoleThis is a professional position that requires a degree of specialized training or knowledge. The work of this position requires the exercise of extensive discretion, sound independent judgment, and a high level of accountability Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day accounting functions , including accounts payable and purchasing, invoicing, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting Maintain effective and efficient accounting system , review current controls and make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies Maintain a system of internal controls and accounting that will ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping are in compliance with all relevant laws (including GAAP) Develop financial reports, including comparisons to budget, trends, and ratios with analyses and recommendations as needed Communicate financial information and issues with senior management on a regular basis Manage the budget process Manage and optimize cash flow Manage the annual audit process and work closely with external auditors Oversee maintenance of accurate inventory of all assets Work closely and cooperatively with senior management in managing projects and implementing enhancements to financial system Perform periodic internal reviews of processes to ensure that accounting policies and procedures are being followed and efficiencies are achieved wherever possible Research availability of loans and grants and complete applications as needed Work with senior management to develop long-term financial plans and forecasts based on strategic plans and various assumptions Communicate financial information to concerned individuals as needed |
RequirementsRequirements BS in Accounting or Finance. CMA, CPA and/or MBA desired 5+ years of relevant accounting experience 3+ years management experience Experience in auditing Advanced knowledge of computer applications, including a high level of proficiency in Excel and Word Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Highly analytical with excellent problem solving skills Ability to communicate with different constituents |
