Job description / Role

Job objective

Supports project Finance Controller on accounting / monthly reporting for the project. Supports entity director ensuring all local compliances for the entity in Malaysia.

Responsible for:
• General Ledger (GL) transaction accounting
• Accounts Payable (AP) transaction accounting
• Accounts Receivable (AR) transaction accounting
• Monthly balance sheet explanation to management

Accounting – GL / AP / AR

• Responsible for overall accounting for the project/s undertaken in the country.
• Ensure the timely and accurate recording of day-to-day transactions for the project in respective legal entities as may be applicable for the project (CGG and SBGS for example) in coordination and consultation with the Project Controller
• Review & Provide accurate account coding for supplier invoices
• Assist Finance Controller in issuing client invoices based on crew production reports and ensure to record the same in AR
• Create accruals and reversal thereof as necessary as part of month end routine, in consultation with and guidance from the Project Controller
• Review and validate Petty cash and Bank reconciliations
• Ensure timely accounting of intercompany invoices from other entities in the group and / or issuance of intercompany invoices to other entities in the group
• Be the focal point for all accounting related queries from crews, head office, CGG entities etc.

Monthly balance sheet accounts explanation

• Prepare the monthly BS explanation based on the summary Trial Balance extract for SBGS Sdn Bhd (SBGS SB)
• Identify anomalies and preparation of rectification entries in the following month in consultation with Project Controller

Other activities

• Manage sub-contractor agreements (charter party (BIMCO), fuel, travel agents, shipping agents and other suppliers as applicable)
• Ensure timely renewal of contracts, lease agreements and signature mandates, Power of Attorney issued by management to various officers of the company
• Support the rig up activity – logistics, employee travel assistance etc. when needed
• Lead and Support the annual audit tasks for the SBGS SB legal entity
• Ensure to adhere to all local statutory obligations of the legal entity including but not limited to income tax filing for the entity, personnel, social fund establishments and contributions thereof, corporate registrar filing requirements under the Companies Act 1965, VAT / WHT filing requirements and issuance of certificates to beneficiaries of such deductions etc.
• Ensure all internal control policies and accounting guidelines of the company are adhered to in the legal entity as well as the remote crew / country locations.

Requirements

Seabed Geosolutions Sdn Bhd is looking for a Finance Manager for its office in KL, Malaysia. The candidate shall have:

• A Master’s degree in accounting – professional qualifications like ACA / CPA / CMA will be added advantage
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience as Senior Accountant or Finance Manager in a multi-national / multi-cultural work environment
• Handled entity compliance requirements under the Companies Act, Income Tax Act etc.
• Handled statutory audits / internal audits
• Thorough knowledge of accounting standards relating to revenue recognition on service contracts
• Hands on experience in cash flow preparation for the entity / projects
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Advanced knowledge in MS Excel
