Job description / Role
New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Financial Accounting Supervisor within NYUAD's Controller's office.
Among other related tasks, this position will supervise and provide guidance to all Accountants and Financial Analysts within the controller's office to ensure accurate and timely data is captured to meet deadlines, to assist with month, quarter and year end closing processes in line with appropriate NYUAD policies and procedures.
The Financial Accounting Supervisor will oversee all daily accounting and financial transactions resulting from all ERP modules and third party systems, ensuring the correct interface to General Ledger.
The Financial Accounting Supervisor will perform, maintain, and reconcile all Balance Sheet Accounts in conjunction with ongoing reviews and checks to ensure that ERP transactions are functioning properly and interfacing to the General Ledger in a correct manner to allow the correct capturing of financial data while facilitating problem resolution in connection with discrepancies, procedures and other problems that may arise.
The Financial Accounting Supervisor will ensure the appropriateness and integrity of NYUAD'S internal control systems as reflected and captured in the General Ledger to adequately safeguard NYU, NYUAD and NYUAD sponsors assets.
Requirements
Advance working knowledge of Excel and Word.
Hands-on experience with double entry accounting system(s), and preferably ERP type system or other major systems/modules that interface with GL.
Experience producing GAAP and IFRS compliant financial statements.
Strong analytical, problem solving, planning and project management skills.
Ability to work flexibly and effectively in a team environment while supervising a team of no less than 3 accountants or analysts.
Ability to understand long term goals and broader planning parameters and set new processes in motion to fulfill those goals.
Ability to manage multiple complex tasks at once.
