Job description / Role
This position is responsible for performing complex financial modeling and operational analysis in support of growth through new business opportunities as well as acquisitions, joint-ventures, and partnerships; make recommendations to management based on findings. This associate will partner with cross-functional departments, external prospective sellers and buyers, brokers, and third parties to gather information necessary for modeling, analysis and auditing.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
•Acquisitions, Divestments, Joint Ventures
•Perform valuations and financial returns of potential acquisitions, divestments, and joint ventures using discounted cash flow techniques (Internal Rate of Return/Net Present Value) and/or earnings multiples.
•Utilize financial history to project future income statement and cash flow performance.
•Identify and quantify product mix, synergies, and additional costs.
•Analyze balance sheets to identify and value assets and liabilities to be acquired or divested.
•Perform sensitivity analysis to model impact of projected performance on IRR/NPV.
•Assist in periodic identification and profiling of potential wholesale and retail acquisitions across a universe of domestic wholesale grocery supplier and retail grocery store chains.
•Work with Financial Planning & Analysis budgeting team to ensure that acquisitions/divestments are incorporated into budgets and forecast.
•Work with project teams to integrate acquired businesses and transition divested businesses.
•Perform post-integration financial audits of acquisitions to identify best practices and lesson learned.
New Business Opportunities:
•Perform complex financial modeling
•Maintain and update new business evaluation model used by the development and sales organization to project financial performance of potential new customers.
•Build complex ad hoc financial models to project financial performance of large national or regional customers.
•Maintain and update Pro Forma financial model customers to project future financial performance.
•Train Business Development and Sales teams on use of New Business and Pro Forma financial projection models.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field. Master of Business Administration preferred.
•Minimum three (3) years to maximum five(5) years financial modeling and analysis experience.
•Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Oracle Hyperion planning and Essbase experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSAs):
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross functionally and with all levels in the organization. Strong analytical and effective decision-making skills, organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, strong initiative and ability to prioritize multiple priorities. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Strong financial acumen and quantitative analysis and spreadsheet modeling skills. Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines, and have the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative solutions.
