Fire Protection Engineer (Senior) - Qatar

QATAR POWER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM EXPANSION - PHASE 12

Senior Loss Prevention Engineer. SUBSTATION KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE IS A MUST

Scope:
- Data Collection
- Site Investigation & Preliminary Studies
- Will be responsible to establish and maintain documented procedures to control & verify the design produced by EPC contractors.
- Preparation of tender documents, contract procedures, technical specification, evaluation of bids.
- Will be responsible to establish and maintain documented procedures to control and verify the design submitted by the contractor or the design produced by the consultants themselves.
- Design including description, calculation, layouts, control & bill of quantities, erection, commissioning and testing of the following systems but not limited to:
- Fire Detection & Alarm System
- Deluge Water Spray System
- Sprinkler system
- Water Mist System
- Clean Agent (FM200) System
- Fire extinguisher system.
- Transformer Explosion Prevention System
- Fire Pumps & Controllers
- Passive Fire Protection
- Fire resistant cables
- Fire Rated Doors
- Fire Dampers
- Fire Barriers
- Sizing of fire pump capacity & head calculations and sizing of fire water piping.
- Review of hydraulic calculations, gas flow calculations, battery calculations, sounder calculations, cause & effect charts
- Review & approval of P&I Diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, isometric drawings, O&M Manuals, as built drawings, spare parts.
- Review & approval of SAT procedures, FAT procedures and method statements.
- Review & approval of Cable schedules, Cable Block diagrams, Schematic diagrams, Signal List.
- Review of design/engineering of smoke extraction system.
- Review the design/engineering and technical submittals of lightning protection system.
- Review and assess the substation earthing system in line with safety and loss prevention aspects.
- Review the design/engineering and calculations of emergency lighting system.
- Review the security management system documents and ensure the necessary interfaces of SMS with regards to loss prevention system are taken care.
- Ensure the necessary interfaces between loss prevention, HVAC system, smoke system, security management system and explosion prevention system. Interface of loss prevention system with substation control system & NCC.
- Necessary interface and coordination between substation protection and explosion prevention system.
- The review of design/engineering of Life safety drawings including DC-1 & DC-2 drawings with regards to loss prevention system.
- Only qualified personnel equipped with adequate resources should be assigned for the design and development or design review activities.
- Formal documented review of the contractor's proposal/design should be conducted.
- All design changes and modifications are identified and documented and all these changes should be submitted to KAHRAMAA for approval.
- Will be responsible for tender documents preparation, setting the specifications which meet the requirements of the client, preparation of B.O.Q, evaluation the contractor's qualification and comparison between the competitors of tender. All the above works will be under supervision of the Client.
- The Contractor should establish and maintain documented procedures for verification by KAHRAMAA that the quality activities and related results comply with planned arrangements and to determine the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Periodically site visit in order to check the design implemented according to approved documentation.
- Preliminary and final design, witnessing of factory acceptance test.
- Coordinate meetings with Construction Contractors.
- Will be responsible for sub contractor evaluation.
- The review of NOSP documents for Loss prevention system prior to energize the substation.
- Evaluate and assess the subcontractors/vendors on the basis of their ability to meet sub-contract requirements including the quality & safety standards.

Requirements

Our busy Qatar client has a requirement for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, to join their Qatar Power Transmission System Expansion project. Applicants will be fluent with NFPA 101 & NFPA 5000, will be well qualified and also experienced in relevant projects within the construction sector.
