Fixed Asset Accountant

*Assist in recording the source of funding for capital projects, ensuring the funding of capital expenditures is properly tracked.
*Assist in creating and monitoring a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets.
*Assign tag numbers to fixed assets.
*Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
*Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
*Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
*Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets.
*Update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
*Calculate asset retirement obligations for those fixed assets to which AROs are applicable.
*Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
*Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
*Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
*Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
*Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
*Review general ledger funding sources and reconcile to grants module balances.
*Prepare scheduled and ad hoc reports and analysis for management as requested.
*Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.

Requirements

*Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
*Solid knowledge of accounting principles
*Excellent organization skills, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
*Must be able to work with a high degree of detail, and must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
*Experience with MS Office programs is essential
*Detailed-oriented and thorough worker
*Experience with Oracle EBS r12- ORACLE ASSETS is a must, and preferable in Oracle Payables, Oracle Projects, Oracle Application Desktop Integrator.
