Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

To lead the Banks Commercial Banking function to achieve profitability and growth through suitable development, marketing and structuring of Real Estate Finance, Project Finance as well as Contracting Finance, Trade Finance,and BOT deals, based on Islamic Finance principles, assisted by a team of competent deal structuring and relationship management professionals. Ensure optimal risk/return balance

STRATEGY
- Contribute as a member of the Executive team, to the development of the Banks vision and strategy and implementation of its key initiatives, to ensure the Bank meets its commitments to its stakeholders.
- Formulate a business plan for the Commercial Banking department in line with the Banks business strategy.
- Design and implement an organization structure for Commercial Banking that supports the departments business plans.

OPERATIONAL
- Supervise the preparation of and review of the annual divisional and departmental aggregate budgets.
- To ensure that adequate funding provision is made for all departmental activities.
- Monitors expenditures against approved levels on a monthly basis. Investigates and reconciles any significant variances to ensure effective performance and control.
- Explore and capitalize on market opportunities in traditional and new areas in a proactive manner, focusing on balance sheet as well as off balance sheet business with a view to increasing market share and profitability.
- Guide the Business and Product Development efforts of the department to proactively scan the market and develop innovative solutions to client needs.
- Ensure adequate focus on key accounts and management of key client relationships with a view to furthering the Banks business prospects.
- Recommend or Approve financial facility proposals based on assigned authority limit to facilitate smooth disbursal of such facilities.
- Liaise with other department heads within the bank to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Commercial Banking departments activities as and when required.
- Participate as a member of internal committees to facilitate decision making and represent the bank in external meetings to ensure that the banks interests are protected and a positive image is portrayed at all times.
- Develop policies and procedures for Commercial Banking functions and oversee their implementation to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Monitor, on a regular basis, budget growth and achievements of Division Heads and Relationship Managers.
- Performs other related duties as prescribe by Banks Management from time to time.
- Monitor the portfolio in an efficient and timely manner to curb down non-performing loans (NPLs) within the Kuwait industry norms.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Economics and / or Finance.
- At least 15 years experience in Credit related functions of a Bank with at minimum of 10 years in a senior role in Commercial Banking. Sound understanding of Islamic Financing principles and products. Experience in an Islamic Financial Institution is preferred.
