Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Our client an international investment firm is seeking to recruit a General Counsel

Your duties will include but not limited to:
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing of contracts, documentation and agreements including, but not limited to, brokerage agreements, service provider agreements, etc.
- Providing research, factual information, counsel and guidance on legal issues to all departments across the organisation.
- Developing and implementing transactional legal standards to ensure a comprehensive approach to transactions.
- Assisting in creating standard agreements, contracts, forms, terms and conditions and other templates to the extent necessary.
- Advising on both the business and legal implications of significant strategic initiatives including, but not limited to, licensing, major contracts, etc.
- Supporting the investment team in examining business and legal issues.
Preparing presentations to the board, other management and other departments as needed.
- Responding to internal ad hoc requests on an as needed basis.
- Maintaining an effective contract management system, electronically and in hard copy.
- Coordinating the involvement of external legal counsel as needed.
- Ensuring that the internal and external resources of the legal department are aligned and organised to most effectively meet the short-term and long-term needs of the business.
- Establishing procedures for evaluating the quality and cost services of outside counsel.
- Negotiating competitive fee arrangements in order to minimize the cost of external counsels services to the company.
- Coordinating with the Chief Executive Officer and the finance department to ensure adequate provision is made for external legal services and that invoices are paid in timely fashion.
- Overseeing company compliance & AML requirements, plus acting as Corporate Secretary may also fall under this remit

Requirements

* 6+ years experience at a leading international law firm.
* Experienced in the UAE.
* Experience in the financial services or investment field and asset management
* High level of understanding of corporate law as applied in jurisdictions such as New York and the United Kingdom.
* Fluent in English & Arabic
