Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Working for a newly formed semi-government organisation in Abu Dhabi, you will provide legal advice and direction across the Group and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations associated with its business operations to minimise risk and facilitate efficient decision-making by the executive management team.

Key responsibilities:
- Organise and supervise the activities of third party providers to ensure that all activities are carried out in an efficient manner and are consistent with the requirements
- Develop the internal compliance policies and culture
- Assist in the preparation of Operating and Support teams/Subsidiaries budgets in a timely and accurate manner in light of management expectations and business growth and continuity across the Group
- Monitor current spend on service providers against approved budget(s) seeking to maximise efficiencies and reduce costs without impacting the quality of work and advice
- Identifying, managing and mitigating legal and other risks in contractual and other arrangements ?
- Active participation in, and management of, the conduct of contractual and other negotiations, deal and project structuring and execution?Draft, review and negotiate contractual and other documents with a view to minimising legal exposure and risk? If applicable, adhere to Standard Form Precedents and any agreed standard terms of business?Avoid litigation or achieve mutual settlement and manage the conduct of any litigation or disputes that may arise in close consultation with the COO?Appropriate support provided for operational projects or entities and where relevant periodic review and monitoring of contractual obligations?Provide legal and other advice and support to the Group
- Act as a key component part of projects and deal teams?
- Procure service providers with the approval of COO and in accordance with applicable tendering processes
- Supervise and manage service providers to ensure all services are procured in a timely and cost effective manner
- Maintain appropriate awareness of the current local and international legislative and regulatory environment

Requirements

- Law degree from an internationally reputable university
- Overall 8 to 10 years of experience
- Minimum 3-6 years experience in an international law firm (preferably UK or US)
- Minimum 3-6 years post qualification corporate experience preferably in any of the following areas: General Corporate / Commercial, technology/IT
- UAE experience is a must
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Research skills
- Communication skills (Fluent English and Arabic)
- Ability to liaise effectively, and coordinate with, internal project teams and service providers (at the international and local level)
- Planning, organising and time management
- Solid understanding of Group values, strategies, policies and procedures
