The Role


Our Client, a leading insurance broker is looking for a General Manager-Business Development to join their expanding team in Bahrain. The ideal candidate will be tasked with aggressively growing the business by identifying and exploring opportunities in the local market and in the other GCC regions.

Responsibilities:
• Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments. Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
• Accomplish business development objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and key performance indicators; allocate resources; review progress; suggest strategic revisions if necessary.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing corporate and retail customers; schedule and attend meetings to understand the nature of clients’ businesses or lives.
• Direct and coordinate the company's financial and budget activities to fund operations, and increase efficiency; review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
• Develop and refine a marketing strategy to grow the company’s brand awareness in the local market; lead and guide the marketing team to execute upon aforementioned strategy.
• Provide leadership and vision to the organization by assisting the Board and staff with the development of long range and annual plans; evaluate and report progress against plans and budget periodically; prepare and deliver performance-update presentations to the Board.
• Develop a clear understanding of the operational implications of existing regulations as well as upcoming regulatory revisions; ensure that all activities comply with CBB regulations and fall strictly within the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain; assist GMTRA in developing responses and suggestions to the CBB on newly proposed regulations.

Requirements


Requirements


• University degree in commerce & business administration. MBA a plus.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience a senior management position; intimate knowledge of the Bahraini and/or GCC market strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of finance and accounting principles and practices (IFRS); ability to interpret and assist with the preparation of financial reports; experience interacting and collaborating with internal and external auditors.
• Demonstrated experience in sales, marketing, relationship-building, and business development activities.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is a must. Arabic proficiency preferable but not required.
