Allen & York Middle East is recruiting a General Manager of electrical distribution and control products division to be based in Saudi Arabia. Our client has a strong presence in the Saudi Arabian and Middle Eastern market of business design, manufacture and sale of a wide range of electrical distribution and control products.

The candidate will be responsible for different profit centers, currently employing around 700 staff members in the country. He will focus on divisional strategy, high-level business development, operational efficiency and sound financial management in the following areas: design, manufacturing (metal forming, moulding, assembly and testing), project planning/material ordering, tendering and business development.
 
The Distribution and Control Business covers the manufacture of standard and customized products such as circuit breakers, load centers (NEMA and IEC standard), LV power and control systems, and circuit breaker enclosures and busbar chambers. The current sales volume of the business unit is approximately 1 billion SAR ($300M).
 
The General Manager will report to the Division General Manager.

Key activities will include:
Lead operation excellence controlling cost and delivering excellent customer service
Overcome resource issues. Setting in place a strategy to supply all resources to meet business needs. This will include decision on the type, location and mix of skills required.
Ensure best practice is followed to maintain a leading in technology and speed of new product development
Manage capacity constraints and impact of customer delivery
Drive improvement in internal processes
Co-ordinate activities with other departments and suppliers
Drive cost reduction process on current product offering
Liaise with supplier base to cost reduction advantages
Develop personal with individual training plans
Deliver on key divisional projects

Requirements

Requirements:
 
The ideal candidate should possess:
Mechanical or Electrical Engineer Degree
Minimum of 10 years experience as a senior manager in a leading manufacturer of electrical switchgear
Proven track record of growing leading-edge and preferably international businesses
Knowledge of batch and high volume manufacturing/assembly in relevant sectors will be a distinct advantage
Experience of developing business strategy
Understanding of the key issues regarding sales and finance
Demonstrated successful business development in many business areas
Vision, drive and personal qualities to make a real difference to this business
Modern and innovative thinking
Fluency in English, Arabic is a plus
IT literacy
 
Financials:
Tax-free negotiable salary (basic circa SAR 30k to 50k depending on experience)
Housing allowance (circa SAR 120k to 200k)
Transportation allowance (SAR 60k)
Schooling allowance (SAR 15k per child)
