Dubai Sports City and the International Cricket Council wishes to appoint the

ICC Global Cricket Academy
General Manager

The ICC Global Cricket Academy (ICC GCA) has been successfully operating at Dubai Sports City (DSC) from October 2010. To further drive the vision of the ICC GCA being the centre of excellence for world cricket, and to ensure that it is managed in a commercially prudent manner, DSC/ICC is now seeking applicants for the position of General Manager. This role is based in Dubai and will ideally commence in September 2012.

The successful applicant will be required to:

• Lead, promote and manage a state-of-the–art sporting facility comprising an indoor cricket venue, outdoor practice facilities and two playing grounds
• Create and execute an approved Business Plan for, and maintain the commercial viability of, the ICC GCA
• Set the ICC GCA’s on-going strategy and devise annual operational plans and budgets, and programming schedules, for approval of the ICC GCA Board
• Recruit and manage ICC GCA staff
• Manage relationships with key ICC GCA stakeholders
• Design and deliver ICC GCA utilisation packages and programs
• Globally, regionally and locally promote and sell the ICC GCA, it’s services and products
• Oversee the operations of international cricket events and initiatives at the ICC GCA
• Maintain a strong and efficient relationship with DSC

Remuneration
Based in the UAE, the remuneration package is tax free, competitive and commensurate with the role.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Overall 8 years’ experience in the establishment and/or management of a sporting/ entertainment/ hospitality facility and its staff and programs
• Graduate degree in business or sports administration from a recognized university (ideal)
• Extensive marketing and commercial experience in the areas of sport and/or facility management
• Excellent presentation and communication skills including good report writing
• Planning and organisational skills of the highest order
• Able to independently lead a major business
• Cross-cultural understanding
• Experience of managing events and/or delivering programs, ideally in an international environment
• Able to develop and deliver against budget
• Passion for sport and an understanding of world cricket.
