General Manager - Projects

Job description / Role

Our client is in projects development & contracting business, is seeking to recruit their projects in their contracting business unit. The main objective of this role is to meet clients expectations by ensuring projects delivery within the time-frame and they are in-full compliance with pre-set budget as well as specifications.

Reporting to the Head, the incumbent needs to ensure the realization of jobs main objective and achieve the final goals in terms of quality, specifications, regulations & liabilities, budget and schedule for each project. Accordingly, the job holder:
- Shall establish an over-all plan for projects as well as for each project that ensure the company main objectives.
- Monitor & track the plan on continuous basis in order to ensure meeting the needs of each project in term of assigned resources as well as on-time delivery in full compliance with the contractual terms.
- Lead projects management team from pre-tendering stage till handing-over.
- Ensure comprehensive understanding for the scope-of-work related to each project and draw execution plan accordingly, communicate the same with the project management team.
- Ensure the performance of project managers and their adherence to the execution plan, in order to reach delivery in full compliance with quality, safety, specifications, schedule, regulations and budget.
- Effectively lead Projects Managers, Projects Engineers, MEP Engineers to ensure productive execution & delivery.
- Interact & liaise with project managers, consultants, contractors and sub-contractors.
- Work on estimation as well as resources and produce related comprehensive analysis to be used in decision making process and obtain the required management approvals.
- Monitor periodically resources and purchase-orders for materials as well as services, and ensure that all as are within budget & plan.
- Take on-time corrective & preventive action as needed, and adjust the plan accordingly. Communicate the same with the top management as well as project management team.
- Ensure efficiency by producing monthly cash flow for each project and compare it to budget.
- Evaluate monthly payments / bills / claims / variations related to the work of contractors & sub-contractors, and act appropriately.
- Set-up project management procedures, forms and reporting formats that leads to producing comprehensive manuals for pre and post-contract compliance that ensure a smooth and effective delivery process.

Requirements

- Should have bachelor in Civil Engineering gained from reputable university
- Certified project management (PMP) is an added advantage.
- Should have at least 15 years of work experience in project management within construction industry that includes pre & post contract stages.
- Should demonstrate hands-on experience in project management and construction work.
- Should have hands on-experience in project management reporting as well as development.
- Should demonstrate experience in managing construction mega projects of value exceeding 1billion.
- Communication skills, leadership, people skills and managerial skill are must to this role.
