Employment: Full Time

The Company:

Our client is a Leading Islamic Bank in Bahrain. They have maintained their leading position in the Islamic banking sector through adopting innovative Islamic investment and financing products.
They are currently looking to recruit a General Manager Retail Banking to be based in Bahrain.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Manage the creation of an appropriate vision and long term strategy for the Retail Banking Division to be agreed by the CEO and the Board.

2. Demonstrate effective and inspiring leadership to ensure that the division is highly effective and efficient to impact on the Bank's long term profitability.

3. Evaluate the needs of the retail banking segment in order to capitalize on market opportunities and adjust the strategies to reflect the changing conditions.

4. In collaboration with the respective department heads, develop and put in place strategic operating plans and budgets for the respective departments under control, so that they reflect the long-term objectives and priorities of the bank.

5. Provide macro level direction and control over the activities of the respective departments under control, by making significant decisions that affect performance, profitability, risk and management control and ensure that these decsions are in line with the bank's policy and authority level.

6. Ensure that operational plans for the respective departments under control are cascaded from the strategic plans and that overall targets and budgets are reflected in these plans.

7. Provide information and management reports to the CEO, Board of Directors and other appropriate executive committees so as to assess the performance of the respective businesses, achievement of the agreed strategies and support the long term management decisions.

8. Ensure that allocation of resources among the departments under control reflect the priorities of the bank in terms of budgets and manpower allocation.

9. Ensure that the Retail Banking Division complies with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements including the Sharia'a rules and CBB requirements.

10. Establish and maintain high level contacts with the market, including counterparts in other banks, small businesses, High Net Worth Individual customers, etc. to ensure awareness of changing market conditions and meeting customers needs.

11. Ensure timely interference and resolution of operating issues and problems that affect service levels and reputation of the Bank and ensure that preventive measures are developed to avoid repetition.

12. In conjunction with the Department Heads, identify the training and developmental priorities of the department in conjunction with the Human Resources Department and ensure that staff are adequately skilled to meet the future requirements of the Bank

Requirements

Qualifications & Experiences:

- BSc in Banking and Finance or Business Administration from a reputable reorganized University

- Master degree in Finance or any other relevant qualification is desirable.

- Professional experience in Banking, Accounting or Finance with 10 -15 years experience in all areas of Retail Banking, including Branch, Private and Priority Banking, small business segment, etc.

- Strong leadership and communication skills with experience in leading diverse teams and developing departments.

- Through knowledge of banking activities and rules and regulations of CBB and Sharia'a requirements.

- Knowledge of customers and local market with ability to build up connections and networks.

- Ability to understand and identify customer's exposure.

- Ability to communicate and maintain connection with VIP and influential customers.
