The RoleThe RoleOne of the worlds leading shipping companies with an office located in Dubai is looking to hire a General Manager who will be responsible for developing business growth strategies to achieve growth and other business performance objectives in accordance with the budget and policies and strategies set and agreed by the organization. Planning, directing and leading commercial, operational, financial and business development activities in UAE. Main areas of responsibilities: - Constantly monitor business performance of the agency (in all areas and in all the branches) against budget/plan - Formulate and implement appropriate business strategies and plans which enable the agency to achieve company objectives - Plan and carryout the appropriate steps/measures to ensure achievement and maximisation of business targets- volume, revenue , Profit etc - Direct the team in Identifying and developing new market segments, creating/tapping new opportunities and developing relationship with Key customers - Direct the formulation and implementation of sales and marketing (commercial) plan overseeing that all commercial plans and objectives are aligned with agency strategies and objectives - Direct the formulation of implementation of operational policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of branch activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to internal and external customer - Create a healthy organizational climate and culture, lead and manage the team so that overall agency performance is maximized - Continuously communicate company objectives and targets to the team and ensure those of the senior managers are aligned - Play key role in recruiting, and developing talented senior staff |
RequirementsRequirementsQualifications and Experience: •Minimum 15 years of experience in shipping preferably in a shipping agency out of which 4 years should be in a senior managerial position in shipping trade with business/commercial responsibility. •Education: A graduate, preferably in Business Management •Very good Shipping Knowledge – both commercial and operation •Excellent Knowledge of local shipping market: customers, competitors, shipping regulations/laws etc •Ability to think Strategically and to provide strategic leadership •Very good networking, communication, analytical and logical skill •Good computer skills especially shipping systems, Spread sheet and office packages |
