General Manager - Vegetables - Kenya

We are now looking to recruit a General Manager for a large vegetable distribution and packing operation in Kenya. This is an opportunity to work for a leading fresh produce company in a vital position, balancing export with the on-site operational management.

As the new General Manager, you would be ensuring that the packing operation remains the industry leading operation that is it, meeting customer demands in terms of service, quality, safety and legal compliance. You would also be a vital participant in the directional management of the business, supporting and communicating the corporate strategy throughout the operation.

The new general manager would be responsible for:
- Day to day operational management of the packing operations,
- Communicating with clients and marketing partners in Europe and Africa, and liaising with them on issues such as yield forecasts, quality and pricing,
- Ensure the Packhouse operations comply with international health and safety standards,
- Drive the sustainability agenda, to meet the headquarters and customers expectations,
- Continuously improving and developing cost-efficient measures to increase the economic viability of the packhouse operations.
- Frequent reporting to the Managing Director

Requirements

- At least 10 years of relevant experience, working internationally and gaining business and commercial exposure,
- Experience dealing with European and African retailers,
- Excellent communicational skills
- Regional experience in African would be highly advantageous.
