Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Prior to launch, market knowledge and experience will be needed to assist in the start up phase. This will include working with designers and seniors in the project to ensure the targets are met and the gym is ready to open with the most efficient strategy in place. This will mean ensuring suitable designs are passed approved, classes are planned, services offered are finalized and appropriate staff is recruited.

The job will involve managing the gym on a day-to-day basis, ensuring targets are met and operations and systems are adhered to. There will be department managers that will report directly to you.

Description
* Designing and promoting activities to meet customer demand and generate revenue; included in this is the development of class schedules along with research into most effective and desired classes.
* Advertising and promoting the club or center to increase usage, which may include commissioning and considering market research.
* Recruiting, training and supervising staff, including managing staff rotas.
* Carrying out health and safety checks on the equipment and site.
* Managing maintenance, insurance, repairs and cleaning.
* Maintaining high levels of customer care, often with a particular focus on avoiding loss of existing users.
* Prioritizing target activities and user groups.
* Handling complaints and incidents, e.g. accidents and emergencies or theft.
* Delivering some fitness training or coaching in sports activities (to maintain contact with customers).
* Preparing and checking budgets and generating income.
* Approve cashing-up and keeping stock records.
* Purchasing equipment and supplies.
* Using advanced management information to improve provision and timetables and cope with fluctuations in demand.
* Writing monthly or weekly reports and preparing cash projections for center owners or more senior management.

Requirements

Candidates must be physically fit and should possess sound customer service, business, management, sales and marketing skills. Good problem solving, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are also essential. First aid qualifications are beneficial for this position.
