King Saud Medical City (KSMC) is a JCI and CBAHI accredited tertiary hospital site that encompasses General, Paediatric and Maternity hospitals as well as Dental and Kidney Centres. Currently staffed by over 8,000 medical professionals, KSMC has plans to increase their capacity from 1,400 to 2,000 beds over the next few years, in order to continue to offer the most innovative, pioneering treatment to patients, as well as staying aligned with increased healthcare demand.

To achieve this growth specialty towers are being established within their existing site, with more to be built. This includes the creation of the new Level 1 trauma center, the largest in the region, as well as incorporating specialised ICU and diagnostic technologies. Amongst the first phase of these developments includes a high-tech surgical tower with 480 private in-patient rooms, designed for maximum flexibility to accommodate a broad range of patient requirements.

To compliment their growth strategy we are currently seeking a number of experienced Consultants to join their existing team and we have an immediate vacancy for a General Surgeon for Trauma.

The General Surgeon for Trauma will join our existing, highly skilled surgical team to provide a comprehensive elective and emergency surgery service. Surgeons will be required to participate in clinical audits and will be expected to be actively involved in clinical governance activities.

The postholder will be responsible for the supervision and training of more junior surgical colleagues and to develop research interests relevant to this post.The prime responsibility is for patient care, best diagnosis and team leadership.

Requirements

- Board Certified General Surgeon (UK/US/Canada/Europe/South Africa).
- Minimum 1 year General Fellowship completed plus at least 3 years post-board certification experience in specialty.
- Expert on range of emergency and elective surgeries within the specialty.
- Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Completion of General Fellowship Experience in contemporary general trauma surgical techniques.
- Demonstrate ability to carry out clinical research
- Experience of supervising junior staff.
- Ability to teach clinical and operative skills.
- Involvement in the Clinical Audit process and an understanding of the aims thereof.
- Ability to organize and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating
