Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

My client is a leading international consultancy who have an excellent reputation and are currently working on one of the largest civil engineering projects in Qatar. They are currently looking to recruit an experience geotechnical supervisor to supervise the survey works on site, land and marine investigations on a daily basis and in the laboratory, and to check quality to ensure that the required standards are met. The role will also involve;

- Supervise progress and contractors HSE and QA procedures.
- Ensure daily coordination with the site investigation contractor.
- Support the RE in drafting formal communication with relevant parties with regard to the site supervision team.
- Draft visit notes with recommendations for improvements.
- Work closely with the RE to cover the quality of the survey campaign.
- Monitor the site investigation contractors programme.
- Monitor the progress of the site investigation works and coordinate this with the RE.
- Coordinate and review the site investigation contractors submittals, provide comments and ensure timely close out with the contractor.

Candidates must have a degree in a relevant geoscience subject and should have a minimum of 10 years supervision experience in on and offshore site investigations, preferably in the context of soil and rock investigations for maritime structures, bridges and tunnels. Candidates will preferably have ground investigation experience in Qatar and if not must have worked in Oman, UAE or Saudi Arabia. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following -

- Proven hands on experience, supervising ground investigations on site; taking responsibility to health and safety.
- Experience in rotary rock coring techniques (PQ wireline or Geobore S wireline), logging rock an soils and performing laboratory work in accordance with ASTM and ISRM standards.
- Experience of ASTM and ISRM soil and rock testing standards.
- Excellent health and safety knowledge.
- Fluent in written and verbal English.

Requirements
