GM Middle East needs a strong government relations professional to navigate through all the different factors that affect the Middle East market, in order to sustain and encourage GM's growth in the region.

The complexity of this job is extremely high, it has the accountability and the influence to interface with all officials and partners in the region. It is responsible for creating and communicating an integrated strategy that is adaptable for the different countries in GM Middle East that promotes a favorable regulatory environment that helps drive and sustain growth, and is aligned to the business strategy in that country. To ensure that policies/practices that are executed need to complement and not sub-optimize other functions’ business imperatives, such as legal and public relations, to ensure that GM's interests and image are protected.

The person in this position needs to be able to provide counsel to share best practices and counsel GM’s leaders in order to seize opportunities to grow GM's business and sustain current growth, and to comprehend sustainability as it relates to industry and government relations, public policy and advanced technology applications. Finally, this position is responsible for understanding and analyzing the political and economic environment in key countries so that it can provide decision support to the President of GM Middle East and the Senior Advisor for the Corporation in Public Policy.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years working in government, public policy, and/or corporate affairs.
• Preferred Master's degree with a preference for a Law, Economics, Political or Technical degree.
• Proven experience advocating on behalf of a multinational corporation across the Middle East on complex public policy issues; proven demonstrative results through a broad range of direct and indirect influencing methods including integrated political/communications campaigns
• Deep knowledge of the political and legislative landscape in the Middle East
• Full knowledge of the auto industry, or ability to gain such knowledge quickly
• Knowledge and full understanding of public policy processes, including sensitivity to the automotive sector within the Middle East and outside the region or the demonstrative ability to gain such knowledge quickly (e.g., economic competitiveness, trade policy impact, environmental issues, overall regulatory issues, vehicle safety issues)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Arabic would be helpful.
• Strong leadership skills including building relationships, influencing others, adaptability, and resolving conflict due to interaction with key stakeholders in various countries
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with others while driving results
• High level of organizational skills - ability to multi-task and handle job diversity
• Experience in dealing with government officials form all levels and types in emerging markets

GM has 2 facilities here in Middle East one is in Dubai World Trade Centre and the other, Middle East Distribution Corporation, which is located in Jebel Ali.
