Graduate Waste Consultant

WSP is looking for a Graduate Solid Waste Consultant to be responsible for supporting our project execution and delivery. The candidate should be familiar with operational, planning and technical issues associated with solid waste collection and treatment.

Responsibilities
Delivering solid waste management strategies within private and public sectors;
Undertaking basic waste generation modeling for waste and recyclables within different functional areas;
Delivering construction waste management strategies;
Service and vendor data collection assignments; and
Providing waste management inputs to masterplans and environmental impact studies

Requirements

Requirements
Knowledge of the solid waste industry, including collection, transfer, recycling and disposal practices and operations;
Knowledge of local and national waste regulations and policies;
Excellent grasp of the English language;
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, and proven ability to communicate results orally and in writing;
Bachelors degree in environmental or engineering discipline required, other advanced degree preferred;
Ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere;
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
Some knowledge in the following areas (as many as possible):
- Waste collection
- Waste treatment
- Sustainable waste management
- Hazardous waste
Ability to work on projects with minimal supervision;
Able to support other team members;
Understand customer, client, and stakeholder needs and expectations;
Be eager and willing to learn new skills and subjects;
Be able to efficiently plan, prioritize, act, and integrate activities into client and WSP systems, programs, and processes;
Communicate and work cross-functionally with all levels of management and technical functions;
Work effectively within a global client organization, be flexible, diplomatic, and entrepreneurial; and
Clean drivers license.
