Graphic Designer

Job description / Role

• Gather information to design Sohar Aluminum corporate brochures including newsletter, magazines, internal as well as external timely publications
• Create new designs in line with Sohar Aluminium corporate branding guidelines for publications and digital media
• Conceptualize and present designs for launching new campaigns, employee handouts, and other requirements for operational and departmental specifics
• Draw and print charts, graphs, illustrations Discuss with clients to determine layout designs as per the client’s needs
• Study illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of materials, products, or services
• Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts
• Develop design proposals from typesetting (word documents into Quark) through design, printing and production
• Conceptualize and design artwork ready for production in 2D & 3D
• Develop concepts, graphics and layouts for brand and service illustrations, company logos and website
• Liaise with external printers, publishing and production houses on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality
• Produce still and animated graphics for digital media tools
• Assemble images, typography, or motion graphics to create design
• Action the Sohar Al uminimum Health and Safety routines for his/her work area

Requirements

Bachelor in Graphic Design with a minimum 3 years of relevant experience

OR

Diploma in Graphic Design with 5 years of relevant experience

And

Electronic equipment as well as computer hardware and software, including 2D and 3D design software.
Design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of printed material, signage, and audio-visual solutions
Media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to communicate via written, oral and visual media.
Principles and methods for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Photography using professional SLR camera, to visually illustrate according to the editorial concepts.
Corporate branding in an industrial business is a plus

Sohar Aluminium was formed in September 2004 to undertake a landmark Greenfield aluminium smelter project in the Sultanate of Oman and is jointly owned by Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA and Rio Tinto.

By implementing decades of industry insight in its design, specification and construction Sohar Aluminium has been created to ensure efficiency, environmental protection and the utmost safety of its workforce. The smelter has an annual production capacity of 375,000 tonnes of high quality Aluminium.
