Tax- free salary up to US$114,000 per annum + housing + school fees + med & tickets
Based in Sharjah, UAE

Our client has an extensive business in the logistics and transportation sector with interests in various countries worldwide. They are now seeking to hire an experienced Group Operations Manager (Ports & Logistics) to strengthen the Operations team and manage its transition into global markets. The role will be based in Sharjah, UAE.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be someone with a proven operational track record within the industry, preferably with port experience of all types of cargo handling and vessel operations.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise with shipping line customers, present and future, to monitor existing and prospective volumes, locally and internationally.
• Prepare and present reports and business plans and analyses of existing and potential operations.
• Ensure that the reputation of the Company for achieving standards of excellence in productivity and performance at our terminals is maintained and further improved.
• Periods of travel to all areas in which the Company operates or may operate in the future.
• Seek out and assessment of future business opportunities with the ability to produce detailed analysis of potential targets and their infrastructure, civil, equipment and manning requirements.
• Demonstrate leadership and motivation in managing existing and future staff groups.
• Represent the company, locally and internationally with visitors, other businesses and governments.
• Liaise with other group companies as required to ensure clarity of direction and to seek greater efficiencies.

Requirements

Requirements:

• Degree level qualification or similar sea-going qualification or extensive practical experience with industry related qualifications.
• At least 10 years at a senior level port managerial role
• Significant professional experience in the container, general cargo and bulk shipping industry in a management capacity
• Staff management experience.
• Good leadership and communication skills to establish effective working relationships.
• Experience in all aspects of port development.
• Considerable experience of working in a multi cultural and international environment.
• Excellent presentational and inter personal skills.
• Ability to negotiate and incentivise business development.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Ability to work as a key member of a small but elite operations team.
• Computer literate
