Employment: Full Time

Our client is an international corporation who source, manufacture and distribute soft commodities & FMCG globally.

They are currently operating throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. Going from Africa to the world, the group is ever expanding its structure and reach, driven by diligence, its goal is to carry their products to various nations.

The Group Procurement Head is responsible for developing and implementing company policy, providing expert advice on all purchasing/procurement and contracting decision, negotiating large purchases, and responding to any claims regarding contract law violation. He or she is expected to define a series of policies and procedures that form the basis for all interaction between the company and suppliers. Levels of internal approvals, issuing of purchasing orders, terms and conditions etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Managing and mentoring a dynamic team of procurement/purchasing professionals.
2. Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial performance, and material shortage elimination.
3. Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.
4. Ensure performance improvement and recovery plans are developed, issued, tracked and reported on as required for supply base management and improvement.
5. Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.
6. Manage material/FMCG flow to insure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.
7. Strategically develop and implement FMCG/supply chain strategies covering all FMCG, services and supplier processes throughout the company to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardization.
8. Lead the organization within the scope of the strategic sourcing process to drive cost out of the supply chain by managing the following: FMCG and negotiation strategies including Terms and Conditions Supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation and rationalization of Supply chain solutions, including vendor managed inventory (VMI), supplier consignment, safety stock levels, etc.
9. Leads product development FMCG strategies in line with corporate initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management.
Drives usage of cost models to validate FMCG strategies and to understand significant cost drivers.
Manages all activities that develop relationships with suppliers.
Develops an overall vendor base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilizing global market exploitation, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies.
Provides FMCG support to New Program Teams as required to meet target costs and establish program cost models.
Manages materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives.

Requirements

Education: Degree in Purchasing, Operations Management, Procurement

Languages: Fluent English is a must

Experience: 7-10 years in Purchasing/Sourcing with extensive experience in the FMCG industry
