The RoleThe RoleA leading investment bank in the Middle East is seeking a group Risk Officer to set up risk policies for the group that reflect the broad risk limits of the Board and senior management. The Group Risk Officer will report to the Group Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for setting and approving group risk policies within general guidelines. The Risk department will be responsible for measuring, monitoring, analyzing and reporting overall risk exposures and advising the Board on the need for new or amended risk policies and limits. The Group Risk Officer is also responsible for communication of all policies and processes to all staff. This role will be considered a senior partner in the business ,supporting growth of the business across all business lines and success will be measured accordingly. |
RequirementsRequirementsThe successful candidate needs to exhibit judgment, industry understanding and commercial acumen. Seniority and maturity are also required if the Group Risk Officer is to be accepted as a partner and advisor to the business heads who are in general highly experienced and strong willed. The ideal candidate must already be in a senior risk position and experienced in either investment banking, securities, law or accounting at a senior level ideally with some experience in a multinational corporation. Fluency in English, both written and spoken is a must and ideally the candidate will also be a fluent Arabic speaker, although this is not necessary. The role requires a thoughtful person but someone who is balanced in their views and ultimately decisive. The ability to work well with others and achieve change through influence and persuasion is a major advantage. The candidate must be intellectually curious and structured. Strong relationship management skills are essential in order to be able to manage relationships with regulators in many countries and also major clients and counterparties from international and local corporations, banks and investors. |
