Employment: Full Time

We are looking for a Western HSE Manager (Civil Engineering) to work for a Western Contractor in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Oman.

Job Description:
To be part of the HSE team, reporting to the Regional H&S Manager.
To provide functional H&S support to area and project management within the assigned geographic area, by means of promoting, coordinating, facilitating, and follow-up of the H&S management system and the strategy set out by the management;
To assist area and project management with the implementation of the H&S management system, regional regulatory and client’s minimum HSE requirements and annual objectives;
To assist the management of the auxiliary services with the implementation of the H&S management system, regional regulatory and annual objectives;
To assume responsibility for project H&S staff:
to ensure adequate project H&S staffing, both in terms of quantity and quality;
to monitor performance, identify any training needs and to coach on a one-to-one basis as required;
To ensure adequate implementation at Project level, of key H&S tools and processes, that cover all H&S risks, and that are in line with OSHAS 18001, regulatory and client’s minimum requirements;
To ensure adequate implementation of annual H&S objectives and action plans;
To help line management with taking full ownership of health and safety matters by assisting and acting as coach, and by providing a healthy challenge when appropriate;
To organise and/or conduct H&S technical and management system audits, and to monitor proper follow-up of improvement actions at project level;
To execute H&S studies/risk analysis on methods, materials and processes;
To identify and resolve (potential) health and safety issues on project level in your area;
To ensure adequate H&S input to prequalification- and bid documents;
To assist Project Management with providing H&S assurance to Authorities and Clients, incl. participation in H&S coordination meetings as required;
To conduct and/or facilitate the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents, and to maintain an oversight with regard to follow-up and close-out of corrective actions;
To maintain an oversight on data integrity and timeliness of the Monthly H&S reporting;
To ensure the administrative follow-up of H&S management system for your area

Requirements

Your competencies:
Pragmatic approach and proven ability to analyse and translate problems into solutions;
Communicative, convincing with a natural authority, and a proven ability to motivate and inspire others.

Experience:
Industrial or Civil engineer with minimal five years of experience in an H&S Advisor’s and Management role, preferably in construction industry;
Formal education in Health and Safety management;
You have a very good knowledge of English, other languages a plus;
You are persevering, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial, combined with a strong sense of responsibility, ethic and flexibility
Ability to work in a multi-cultural team as well as independently;
Travelling within the area is not an issue for you.
