Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The job will entail the deconstruction of an existing 20,000 seat reinforced concrete football stadium in Doha, Qatar. Key aspects of this contract are the requirements for recycling and sustainable deconstruction with a high percentage of demolition material diverted from landfill, the highest expectations and requirements with respect to Health & Safety, a significant focus on Worker Welfare and a need for timely completion of the contract and within budget.

The deconstruction contract is expected to run for up to 12 months, including mobilization and pre construction planning and settling the final account.

The deconstruction package is likely to be followed by further early works packages and will be followed by a main construction contract of around 3 year's duration.

The HSE Manager will be required to:
* If needed, assist the project manager with presenting the HSE setup, plans and results for relevant stakeholders (e.g. client's HSE manager)
* Contribute with knowledge about stakeholders in accordance to HSE
* Define the necessary HSE set-up on the project according to the contract, internal requirements and national requirements to HSE
* Assist the project manager in defining HSE benefits/KPI
* Assist the project manager defining the procedures and follow-up on change management
* Assist the project manager and discipline leads in planning the HSE activities (screening, review, check, interface workshop etc.) and help to ensure their documentation
* Monitoring to ensure that the HSE set-up for the project is used correctly, so that the deliverables/performance fulfills the requirements.
* If necessary conduct internal audits in the project (and of the suppliers) or order an external auditor
* Monitor that the required documentation is established during the phases and archived correctly
* Assist the project manager and discipline leads in reporting and following up on non-conformities, near-misses and incidents
* Risk and opportunity management
* Assist the project manager in identifying and handling the risks and opportunities in the project related to HSE and Corporate Responsibility
* Training the project team in the HSE. Setup including project specific procedures
* Assist the project manager at the Kick off meeting
* Assist the project manager at the Project evaluation
* Establish and maintain the defined necessary HSE setup in the project
* Assist the project manager in establishing and constantly improving the project specific procedures and processes

Requirements

The successful candidate will need to be NEBOSH qualified and have a minimum of 15 years experience in a similar role including previous experience in the Middle East. The HSE Manager will report directly to the Resident Engineer.
