Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Rising of fuel costs, indoor air quality and climate change are all contributing factors in raising awareness of the true cost of energy and the need for energy-efficient building environment system design, construction and maintenance are required for achieving business success.

Work may take place in cramped, , dirty, cold or hot conditions. Safety must be considered in dealing with electricity, flammable fuel lines, Chemicals and CFC/HCFC refrigerants. HVACR technicians may have to pull wires or pipes through existing constructions. Respiratory precautions may also be taken because of exposure to dust, refrigeration chemicals and possibly harmful liquids.

HVACR technicians must be experienced in refrigeration unit of air conditioning units or refrigeration equipments. Typical duties includes maintaining refrigeration units, Air-conditioning systems, identifying problems, servicing and taking necessary action like repair and replacement of Refrigeration unit and its parts. Their task also includes suggesting solution to the various problems that can arise in Refrigeration units.

They must present a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers and co-workers.

Should be flexible with Human relations and functions as a “team player”

Typical responsibilities include working under supervision and making use of standard practices, protocols, method, leading and guidelines. It is also required for them to coordinate with other departments for various purposes like budget expenditures, deadlines and for other technical support. Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report to the HVACR Supervisor/Line Manager

• HVACR Technician need to co-ordinate with team members an other trading staff to complete the ongoing project or work order efficiently
• They also have to report work progress to the supervisor in order to take appropriate and necessary action in case there are some issues or delays in work
• They also have to maintain tools and equipments to ensure the availability of necessary thing for safe operating conditions
• Transport various tool, equipments and supplies to the job
• Keep records of repairs and replacements made and cause of malfunctions
• Schedule work with customers
• Preparing technical documentation and record on various issues, material, log time and specification. This provides written support in compliance with conveying information
• Requesting parts and necessary equipments for the purpose of inventory maintenance to ensure the availability of require items and tools to complete the necessary installation and repair work
• Supervise and instruct assistants
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance assigned for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems

Requirements

Academic: - 10th or above

Technical: - ITI (Industrial training institutes) or equivalent from a recognized institute in Mechanical refrigeration and air-conditioning

Experience: - 5 – 10 yrs. Or above

Knowledge: - Should be able to handle all type industrial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems

Required Skills:-
• Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks.
• Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments.
• Test lines, components, and connections for leaks.
• Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
• Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and reassemble repaired systems.
• Read blueprints to determine location, size, capacity, and type of components needed to build refrigeration system.
• Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source.
• Perform mechanical overhauls (Compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion systems and all related accessories) and its refrigerant recovery.
• Cut, bend, thread, and connect pipe to functional components and water, power, or refrigeration system.
• Adjust valves (expansion valves and isolator valves) according to specifications and charge system with proper type of refrigerant by pumping the specified gas or fluid into the system.
• Estimate, order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition.
• Install expansion and control valves, using acetylene torches and wrenches.
• Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specified locations on frames, using hand tools and oxy-acetylene welding equipment.
• Lay out reference points for installation of structural and functional components, using measuring instruments.
• Fabricate and assemble structural and functional components of refrigeration system, using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Inspect various systems and its components like ventilation unit, cooling units, exhaust fans and other sections to ensure proper functioning of the device along with safety and identifying necessary repair and maintenance service..
• Cleaning the parts like coil, drain lines, cooling towers, condensation pans and other essential parts to ensure that unit operates properly.
• HVACR technician will be responsible for emergency complaints after duty hours
• Trouble shooting of Reefers, warehouse freezers (CFC or HCFC), Ammonia plant and overhauling of all kind of refrigeration compressors will be a highly considerable.
• Knowledge about Building automation and fire automation systems
• Working experience with Refrigerant 12, R22, R134a, R404A, R410a, NH3 (Ammonia) and secondary refrigerant are required.
• Should have knowledge about all kind of AC’s (Window, Split, Package, VRV system Etc.)
• Should have knowledge about all kind of compressors. (Reciprocating, Rotary, Scroll Etc.)
• Knowledge about electrical wirings and auxiliary circuits will be considerable.
• Microprocessor programming and knowledge about diesel engine will be considerable
