The Role


Job Purpose

The job-holder is required to lead all Treasury Finance activity, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory reporting requirements, adding value to the strategic direction, planning, budgeting and performance of Group Treasury, in support of Group Head of Treasury & Markets Finance & Group Treasurer.
The job-holder is responsible for the ALM operations, control and maintenance of the accounting & financial reporting systems and processes at Group Treasury, for the preparation and accuracy of its financial reports and for comprehensive analyses of business performance.

Main Job Tasks

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
1. Lead the ALM & Balance Sheet Management Team in the Group Company Treasury Finance and establish a small team focus on monitoring compliance with local regulations in terms of ALM, capital adequacy / management and ratios.
2. Ensure the compliance at Treasury to accounting principles and practices, Group Accounting Policy, operating procedures and other regulatory accounting guidelines.
3. Ensure the integrity & accuracy of the General Ledger Accounts under the Treasury cost centers through implementation of control systems, review of key reports and MIS.
4. Ensure that all P&L related to ALM activity are captured accurately and have financial controls in place to prevent accounting inaccuracies and errors.
5. Ensure timely & correct submission of financial returns to various internal & external authorities (i.e. Group Finance, Group Business Performance, Group Treasury line staff, Group Market Risk etc).
6. Drive Global Market Trading arm to establish a Centralized Funding Desk, once established monitor the effectiveness of funding by analyze the Balance Sheet.
7. Conversant in Fund Transfer Pricing (FTP), and be able to implement for Global Markets business.
8. All Structured transactions must be re-evaluated using the current day's market data. A structure will typically consist of a basket of bonds, credit linked notes (CLN's), loans, interest rate swaps, credit default swaps (CDS's), financial guarantees and any additional payments and receipts already settled or due in the future. Trades are predominantly priced on a net present value ("NPV") basis, although some loans, credit linked notes, financial guarantees and other investments need to be valued on an accruals, cost or cash price basis.
9. Produce control and analyze Basel II reports, coordinate liquidity and structural risks reporting.
10. Assist Business Performance team within Market & Treasury Finance in Preparation of Annual Budgets & Performance Plans.
11. Monitor and analyze actual performance against annual financial plans & budgets using various MIS reports and tools. Assist Business Performance within the Markets and Treasury team to provide robust forecasts on business performance.
12. Assist the Business Performance team in compiling and reconciling the monthly performance reporting.
13. Liaise with Internal Audit and to manage the follow-up on audit issues, both internal and external. Liaise with external auditors with a view to ensuring smooth completion of audit.
14. Provide financial and accounting inputs to the development of new Treasury products.
15. Responsible for the daily production / reconciliation of the daily Treasury P&L
16. Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations. To embed Compliance Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process.
17. Ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations.

Performance Measures

1. Development of accounting procedures and implementation thereof in consultation with Group Head of Markets & Treasury Finance & Group Treasurer
2. Decision making process through quality analyses, inputs and views as required.
3. Development of financial control systems (both manual and automated) by providing feedback on Treasury's needs.

Know How / Experience

1. A qualified accountant with extensive experience in Banking / Financial Services.
2. Should possess sound knowledge of Treasury products & transactions and have knowledge of relevant banking regulations. The products traded include Money markets securities, Interest Rate Derivatives, FX, Non Deliverable Forwards, Futures, Asset Swaps and SIV's.
3. Should be conversant with IAS 39, and perform hedge effectiveness under IAS 39 on monthly basis.
4. Perform reserve calculation, and provide for in GL.
5. Conversant with Debt capital markets & wholesale funding and capital structures. Key stakeholder in providing accounting solutions for Capital Management.
6. A good understanding of the principles of strategic and financial planning and hands on experience of managing a budget and forecast process.
7. Strong financial literacy and attention to detail.
8. Commercial acumen, an enquiring mind and an understanding of the market and financial dynamics would be a distinct advantage.
9. The ability to think laterally and `step back and understand the wider Treasury perspective, issues and challenges are critical.
10. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly to the business and finance colleagues
11. Have experience of dealing and working with senior business heads and managers. Through knowledge and experience this person should have a confident disposition.
12. Capability to work under own initiative and under pressure, to deliver high quality products to tight deadlines.
13. Comfortable to work in a relatively unstructured and multi -cultural environment.
