Job Overview

Technical

Working to streamline design processes across the various design centres
Oversee the development of standard details library
Front end design work and planning
Technical leadership of all design stages
Overseeing the production of detailed working drawings and specifications;
Overseeing the preparation of tender documents for contracts;
Site Inspections
Oversee the preparation, management and coordination of design documentation
Prepare and deliver high level presentations and conferences
Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to the client;
Ensuring that the environmental impact of the project is limited.
Keeping within financial budgets and deadlines
Coordinating with contractors and other consultants
Mentoring and feedback.
Production of basis of design reports incorporating operating and code requirements from concept to detail design and ensuring compliance,
Ensuring international standard quality is achieved on submissions,
Coordination across disciplines
Ability to manage multiple projects
Experience of working overseas, in particular the Middle East

Assist with bid proposals and presentation of bids including input into stage gate process for major rail bids (internal governance)

To comprehensively lead and manage the delivery operations of the Architecture Team and ensure it meets its defined performance parameters in line with client requirements, with the objective of maximising value to stakeholders, minimising risk, and meeting specified time, cost and quality parameters for the projects, within organisational guidelines and internal/ statutory requirements.

MAJOR CHALLENGES

Ensure visibility of work pipeline and business needs / priorities;
Manage non-uniform delivery processes followed between GDC India and teams in the home region(s);
Be aware of the (technical and cultural) challenges regarding deployment of work share(s) offshore and remote working;
Manage expectations of various stakeholders (clients, regional and GDC India counterparts, GDC and Regions etc).

INTERACTIONS

Internal Interaction
Sector Director Property and senior regional stakeholders for reporting on operational, delivery and quality of projects / business unit health;
Human Resource point of contract for resource needs, interviews, confirmations and training needs;
Facilities point of contact for general admin support such as travel requisition, travel processing, seat allocation, etc.;
Finance point of contact for Delivery Measurement Dashboards reporting and other reporting needs, billing, invoices/cost monitoring as applicable;
IS team for any IT requirements.

External Interactions

To meet / speak with / host visits of the end-client(s) as and when required.

Requirements

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications
Graduate / Post Graduate degree in Architecture
Preferred: Professional qualification, RIBA or similar

A track record of developing and fostering strong client relationships (internal and / or external);
A strong financial and commercial background;
Proven ability to manage performance and maintain high standards of delivery;
Strategic thinking skills to help develop and shape future business;
The stature to operate effectively at a senior level.

Strong people skills, focusing particularly on leadership, performance management and inter-cultural awareness;
An aptitude for working with multiple stakeholders, and the judgement to make sound decisions that balance business priorities;

Relevant and total years of experience

15+ years;
5 to 10 years of leadership or project / design management experience.
