The RoleThe RoleOne of the leading Oil and Gas multinationals with extensive operations in the GCC is now looking for a key individual to head up their business development function in Iraq The Role Reporting to the Head of Country, the Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, pursuing and assisting in securing specific projects / commercial opportunities as agreed with the Head of Business Development. The person plays a leading role in (a) Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Group Management System Procedures. (b) Review Group business development and commercial policies and strategies and recommend to the Head of Business Development any changes considered necessary. (c) Periodically review the above procedures to ensure their effectiveness and where required, to propose amendments and ensure their implementation. (d) Liaise with the Commercial Department and other departmental managers as appropriate in the formation of Group business development plans and participate in their implementation, as required. (e) Maintain regular client contact against an agreed marketing plan to acquire the information necessary to identify new opportunities/countries and formulate the company’s commercial strategy for specific projects/clients. (f) Identify in advance of the issue of prequalification or tender enquiries, commercial opportunities for the group both within and outside existing areas of operation. (g) Maintain up to date information on competitor analysis (rig fleet, contract awards, dayrates) and other information on major projects, existing and potential clients, fabricators, equipment suppliers etc. (h) Monitor and report on specific projects/opportunities as designated by the Head of Country. (i) Prepare client contact reports and Business Case reports for major opportunities. (j) Input client contact details and contact reports to the client relationship management (CRM) system (k) To contribute to tender kick-off meetings and participate in rate review discussions.When required to assist Commercial Manager(s) in the preparation of tender submissions. (l) Participate in the appropriate weekly conference calls and contribute input to the monthly Business Development and Commercial Report. Safety (a) Familiarise themselves with the Group Safety Policy and take all reasonable care to ensure the healthand safety of themselves and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions as required under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. |
RequirementsRequirementsThe Person Successful background in business development, proposal preparation and commercial management/negotiation within the oil and gas industry is essential. Have gained experience from within a complex responsive and innovative environment such as: drilling/well services, subsea contracting, engineering contracting or integrated services. A demonstrable track record in the business development and implementation of business development strategies and plans. Successful track record in major contractual negotiations. Preparation and delivery of presentations to client parties. Development and maintenance of excellent relationships at senior operational and commercial levels, both internal and external. Co-ordination and compilation of complex tender responses with specific capabilities in strategic and cultural issues. Minimum Qualifications: Technical or business management degree Required Personal Attributes: Team player with a flexible approach to undertaking additional duties. Energetic, enthusiastic and flexible regarding working hours. Excellent communication skills, both in writing and in delivering presentations to client organisations. Persuasive and credible. International perspective. Proven ability to build and sustain internal and external relationships. Strategic thinker with ability to interpret customer needs and propose viable commercial options. Advantageous Experience: Minimum 10 years in oilfield services environment, preferably for a contractor Advantageous Qualifications: Post-graduate qualification in commercial/business field. |
